Definitive Audiophile pressings

Yet sadly, every "limited pressing" sells out insanely quickly so they probably don't even mind right now. Selling 6,000+ $125 albums in the matter of a few months isn't too shabby for them. I agree they are missing out on tons of potential revenue though. I think they will have to pivot at some point though and probably within a few years at most. They are supposedly starting to get rid of the limited pressings which is a step in the right direction at least.

I am constantly shocked by the resale prices on MoFis, even the ones that are very clearly still in print. There's one dude on facebook/Hoffman who must buy 5 copies of every album and flips them all at pretty sizeable profits by simply saying they are "OOP" even when they aren't. I don't know if people just don't do research or see the re-sale prices and buy it before it goes up more. You have people paying $80-$90 for the Dire Straits MoFis which MoFi themselves say aren't OOP and pretty consistently get restocked. I politely called it out on a Hoffman listing and was threatened with a ban hah.

I have this on order. Received Roots and American Today last week. Plan on spinning America Today this afternoon.

Threatened with a ban? Seriously. Also what a knob. I really fucking hate that place. I think a lot of it is that they drip feed their pressings so people who aren’t as in the know think it’s gone when their vendor is OOS not knowing that unless it’s one of the super special ones it’s likely to come back a few more times.

Ive a lot of time for the VMP Lady Sings the Blues. Also apparently the VMP Room on Fire press is alright too.

Roots is a repress of the digital Bellman. Amrica Today has KG in the deadwax and sounds great.
 
Do any of you have the new red pressing of "The Name of this Band is The Talking Heads"? It's Bellman but it's also Optimal and that scares me.

I have this on pre-order, cost more Ethan 18 Euro though. Talking of trying to get good OG copies, this is a great release if it's KG. The first re-issue since 1972. I really hope they do Spirit in the Dark.
 
Lush Life Craft one step arrived today. It’s my first experience with a one step press, and initial thought after a spin is, yeah, this sounds really, really good. Amongst the best sounding records I own, no question. However, compare it to say a Tone Poet, an affordable and excellent series - how much better is it, actually? 3-4x the price good? Like anything in this hobby, improvements become incremental the higher up the food chain you go. Very happy to have been able to get one of these, but don’t lose sleep/your mind if you missed it and go paying multiple times over retail - takeaway from my humble system, anyway!
