Political Discussion

Whoa. I thought they had huge amounts of money.
They are doing this so they can avoid lawsuits in the State of New York and they are reincorporating in Texas. Its a legal trick to avoid paying out a bunch of money.

there’s a top reddit thread today about the number of parents warning their kids ‘something’s coming’, and i thought of this post.

Reading through all the comments I came across something that stuck out to me about how easy it is to be brainwashed and that it could happen to anyone.

One person talked about their father falling down this rabbit hole. And the part that was unexpected was this persons father wasn't a conservative and wasn't on Facebook. In fact, this persons father berated them for voting for Bush when they were 18! Yet somehow during Trumps term, QAnon got to him.

And like with many stories, this person father was no longer the happy going loving dad. But rather always angry and bitter after falling down this rabbit hole.

Yeah, but it doesn’t take much research to see that a lot of it is pure bunk. The whole alternate facts thing is something we’ve got to figure out, it makes it impossible to argue when the answer is but “yeah, reality is fake news.”

The whole Alternative Facts thing. I heard an expert explain that certain people are very susceptible to them at the right time in their life.

I wonder what makes that happen.

I think QAnon is total bullshit and even I have to admit it’s mighty disconcerting that the whole fantasy narrative climaxes in a military intervention, mass arrests, and the revelation that some of our most beloved celebrities are actually monsters...

...and in the last week this can possibly play out, there are >20,000 National Guardsmen in DC, and Tom Hanks and John Legend are both going to be prominently featured. And we’re learning that Armie Hammer is an actual blood-drinking cannibal.

If that’s a bit troubling to me, imagine if you’re the type who sees omens and signs everywhere. This coming week has to feel portentous.

I mean I know these people didn’t watch or read Lovecraft Country so what is beaming it into their collective unconscious?

The other thing we really have to wrap our head around is we have to stop calling these people stupid. All the name calling exacerbates the tensions.

while I think the people that stormed the Senate should be punished to the full extent of the law including their conspirators and instigators, we do need to figure out how to have an open dialog to even approach healing the country.

The other possibility is that Wells and Atwood and Huxley are just clairvoyant.
Also, Can we talk about all the people on social media who clearly have never read 1984 referencing 1984 incorrectly? My god people, I read it freshman year of high school but even if you haven’t just quickly read the plot summary off of Wikipedia. Though I guess most of these folks are the same ones that frequently misapply the First Amendment so I am probably asking too much.
