The Black Keys "Brothers" (2010 Nonesuch; 2020 10th anniversary edition)

I forgot how much I love this record. Dan Auerbach's voice captures that muscle shoals rock & soul sound they were going for. The new liner notes discuss how Lee Fields' "Our World" from the year prior was inspiration for the record. I'd been a Lee Fields/Soul Fire/Truth & Soul fan for a while at that point. It's no wonder I was drawn to this even though I never really got into The Black Keys before. This album drew me into the band and made me seek out their earlier material. My copy of this reissue is superb.

johnny cash - unearthed

i’ve no plans other than playing games today, so it’s time to break this 9-lp set out and see if i can make it all the way through. i love that the first song on here is the long black veil- it’s one of my favorite songs johnny performs.

i made it, team. couple of breaks along the way, but i did it.
