Definitive Audiophile pressings

I think there is some uncertainty and debate about it being hi-res or AAA. I believe it just says "analog mastering by Kevin Gray" and doesn't necessarily mean cut from analog, which is what it said on the past 2 50th Kinks reissues (Arthur and Village Green) which were also just hi-res digital transfers.

Yeah I don't know if the Kinks Mono Box is AAA but it's all KPG mastered and it's fantastic so either way I'm sure this Lola sounds great.

From what I see in the credits, it says "Re-mastered from the original master tapes" and then Analogue Mastering for Vinyl: KG @ Cohearant. Mastering supervised and audio restored by Andrew Sandoval. So sure--maybe it could have some digital added in somewhere in the chain?

Yeah it’s just a fancy way of saying hi res digital taken from the analog tapes and mastered for vinyl by Kevin Gray . They said the same thing about Arthur and Sandoval came out and explained last year it was digital.
Village Green at least doesn't say anything about being remastered from the original master tapes on the hype sticker though. It just says "2018 remasters". I'd be curious to hear if this one is digital transfer too. Either way it does sound great and I wasn't aware that KG remastered/cut this one until I got it! I have this and the Village Green box set.

Y’all lol. I need help. My audiophile Christmas haul is current locked in 3/4.

1. LA Woman
2. Ella Fitzgerald - Here Comes Charlie (worst album art I’ve ever seen I think)
3. Alice Phoebe Lou - Glow
4. ~insert jazz title~

That last spot is a toss up between the following:

1. Oscar Peterson - We Get Requests (AP)
2. Duke Ellington & Johnny Hodges - Back To Back (AP)
3. Horace Silver - Tokyo Blues (AP)

I can not for the life of me whittle down this selection. Someone make the decision for me
For me, it’d have to be We Get Requests. It’s a great sounding recording and the musicianship is impeccable. The break of silence between the melody statement and Oscar‘s solo in “Have You Met Miss Jones“ is one of my favorite things in all of music, plus Ray Brown‘s bass solos are amazing throughout.

This! Scary good sounding pressing. I finally picked one up recently and it’s awesome. It’s also such a pleasant album to put on. I’ll never get tired of it.

I did some things.....

Took my first dive into the DCC pressings by Hoffman/KG. Grabbed a copy of The Doors - Strange Days for a pretty good price. I also pulled the trigger on a 30th anniversary pressing of Dark Side of the Moon. Someone randomly posted a copy on discogs from Canada yesterday that worked out to way cheaper than any other listing even with shipping. I also just got a copy of Van Morrison - His Band And The Street Choir from the Rhino Start Your Ear Off Right series that's also KG and sounds great. Really happy with how those and the Rocktober titles sound.

in case people missed it, the 33 and 45 of the KG/Pallas pressing of Rumours is back in stock at Acoustic Sounds!

I just ordered the 45rpm. Hopefully it is actually a repress of the one everyone raves about and not a mistake!

They arrived yesterday but I haven’t had a chance to listen yet. I have also heard things.......concerning things. Some people are reporting clean copies though so I’m hoping for the best. 🤞
To be honest it's exactly what I expected to hear when I saw it was Optimal. The paper sleeves though, that really pisses me off.

Yeah, why not sprinkle some sand in the sleeve as well for good measure?

I had a ton of issues with the BN80 pressings that were also pressed at optimal. Took me 2-3 copies of many of those albums to get a clean one.
