Ugh, quick poll, do LNT comps 1) count toward an artist’s discography or 2) are they something completely outside of the artist’s personal body of work?

Edit: asking more from the perspective of your collectors’ nerd brains, not, like, how Discogs would classify it (for example).

It would depend on the artist but mostly outside, it’s them picking other people’s stuff not playing their own, mostly.

If they have an exclusive song on the album (which they almost all do), you could make the argument that they count. But likely with only one song, you just chalk it up to a compilation-only exclusive.

Case in point: I don't think many Bon Iver or Vampire Weekend completionists are collecting Twilight soundtracks to get their hands on their exclusive songs.

I have so many LNT comps at this point that they have their own Flipbin. I wouldn’t consider them part of their discography but it’s adjacent. There will be at least one cover song by Khruangbin on there.

either way I bet the comp is great especially if you like their sound.
