The Good Ol' Grateful Thread

Having a CD player has honestly curbed my dead vinyl playing. I’ve been working throhhh all my Dead CDs and with the 6 CD cartridge I can literally put on two fulls shows in a row without getting up, where one show on vinyl is a significantly more effort. I do like to play my 2-3 LP live releases on vinyl though
Agreed. I’ll still spin Reckoning, Live/Dead, Europe ‘72 and the like, but rarely a show. The only one I do spin with some regularity is The Shrine 1967 release.

The shows on vinyl that I believe work best that I have are One From The Vault, Spring 1990: So Glad You Made It and Dick's Picks Vol. 8. Cornell and the Fillmore West '69 boxes are fine. The Portland box is an absolute train wreck.
Sooooo many discs on the Portland one...I just cleaned it and haven’t listened to it yet but damn...it just keeps going and going 😂😂

This is my favorite live set I own. Unfortunately I let my younger cousin borrow it when he was first getting into the hobby. He didn't store it properly and it got warped... LUCKILY this community is awesome and @jaycee is going to attempt to help me out with his Vinyl Flat. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Also, I only have Live Dead on vinyl. I pick up Jerry's solo studio stuff but just stream the full groups. I'm usually drawing or just sitting next to my table when I spin so flipping has never really bugged me, 15-30 seconds of a gap inbetween songs isn't a deal breaker for me.

Agreed but damn.. I’ve found quite a few cheap things globally on Amazon

I've been Amazon free since May of 2017 when I received this with just a label attached to the plastic outer wrap on my doorstep. Deals be damned, Jeff Bezos can suck it.

Edit: Great sounding set with a lot of people selling for cheap if you dig these guys.

Some American Beauty demos dropped on Spotify today, ahead of the larger release next month:

That studio “TLMD” is a nice surprise. Feel like it definitely would’ve fit the album, but probably better off it wound up on Jerry’s album two years later. Still a nice acoustic composition here.

Yeah. I'm really enjoying these tracks. It's great to hear them fully formed in such a relaxed way.

Made my way through all of Europe 72', then the download series and now have been going through all of Dick's Picks. I just made it to my favorite China > Rider and I have to share it every time. This video compiles the 2 songs with the little jam in the middle, so much improv and the bass is heavy in the mix. Have a great monday everyone!
