Rank The Albums!

FIOE is prob my 2nd favorite Strokes album even though I know there's a lot of filler.
It was the first one I heard all the way through (I know that’s crazy but I was late to them). But I just don’t enjoy so much of it that I never play it all the way through 🤷🏻‍♂️

I think this would be my Blur ranking, I've honestly never put much thought into how I'd rank their albums tbh 🤔
  1. 13
  2. The Magic Whip
  3. The Great Escape
  4. Modern Life is Rubbish
  5. Parklife
  6. Think Tank
  7. Blur
  8. Leisure
I should probably go back and listen to all of them and then re-do this list, because this seems... off.

That sure is different! The Great Escape being higher than Modern Life is Rubbish or Parklife seems like a pretty hot take from here lol. But maybe that’s a different perspective from being that bit younger and finding them after the fact rather than being around as they came out?

Yeah, I guess at the time The Great Escape was kind of seen as a lesser retread of Parklife but I think it has the stronger highs of the two for me personally, although Parklife is probably more consistent in its quality. As for MLIR, I don't listen to that one as much as the others, so it's hard to rank it with the others, which is why I should probably try to do another ranking with a fresh listen through

My issue with The Great Escape is that I always found that blur’s most annoying trend was that their caricatures could tend towards obnoxious and felt that several songs on that album were full on obnoxious (Stereotypes and Country House in particular) and the mastering on it is pretty poor, it’s bad brickwalling, oh so very loud! The only song I’d save off it is The Universal, which is immense.

I disagree with you on Parklife, I think it’s inconsistent at times but Girls and Boys, End of a Century, the title track and, in particular, the epic This Is A Low, are better for me than anything The Great Escape,

That said out of the English trio Modern Life Is Rubbish absolutely smokes both for me in terms of song quality and consistency!

I’m shocked to see 2 lists of oasis where the deplorable standing on the shoulder (just the one Noel?)of giants Isn’t dead last, kind of flabbergasting considering it has such turds as Little James and I Can See a Liar and one of the most boring songs of all time in Where Did It All Go Wrong? Noel’s “what the fuck was I thinking releasing this shit” audio commentary over the best of DVD is priceless.

I revisited it lately and it wasn’t as bad as I remembered it, but it does have several of the worst oasis songs. Better high points than Heathen

Nah, The Hindu Times for one smokes anything on Shoulder. Go Let It Out is the only song I’d save off it and that’s pretty much a worse retread of Roll With It which was always their worst early period single. Also that tour was the worst I saw them live too, for a band that was always better live they were dogshit on the shoulder tour. Don’t Believe The Truth is probably my favourite late period oasis album and The Importance of Being Idle is probably my favourite late period oasis song.

Gallagher’s After Oasis

Who Sold The Moon?
Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds
As You Were
Why Me? Why Not.
Chasing Yesterday
Different Gear Still Speeding
