Vinyl Me Please Essentials

This makes me think VMP is worried about an exodus of members, I don't think I have seen them offer a free record to stay, only to come back

The disassociation is strong
I’d say so too, but then who instigated the exodus? Instead of offering more useless remedies, actually fix some issues that have been brought to your attention.

My swap list is getting shorter. Down to Miles Davis, LARB, Booker, and Moses Sumney. But it’s hard to get those because a lot of the time I’ll swap for an exclusive that isn’t gonna hang around (ie. UGK Ridin Dirty for $23 uh yes please). Swapped out Rosetta Tharpe, which I just don’t like more than UGK tbh.

I think @GatorJim still has a copy of Booker if you are looking.

And if you'll swap back for Sister Rosetta, I'll buy the Booker and we can trade.

Of course your suggestion is the better approach but what in the last six months has told you they are thinking along those lines currently, I hope they change that soon so I can feel better about sticking with them

I've gotten the same email when my cancellation was a few days away before, too. This isn't new.
Oh, I see now. I thought this was a new response specifically to the spike in cancellations (I assume) they got in the last couple of weeks. I wonder how many free records you could score by cancelling ahead of every renewal before they noticed.

Moses Sumney is the best record I've received from them, highly recommend swapping for that.

The last day or so of posts in this thread makes it seem like not all of the moderators are on the same page in terms of the explicit statement in the about N&G thread that this forum isn't anti-anything else.

I think the moderators need to quickly draw up rules applying to every topic and strictly enforce them if threads are going to be abruptly shut down and merged into other threads that have the same overarching topic but different specific focuses. So far it seems like the only reason given was that there are too many VMP threads, which hasn't been defined as a forum rule, to my knowledge. Are the Hip Hop and best 50 hip hop albums of all time all that different? I just think it should be made a clear rule enforced across the board or not enforced if it isn't a rule. At the moment it comes across as rather one sided and doesn't seem to jive with the mission statement IMO.

For the record, I think the shutting down of the forums was crap and I believe that the many people that are more and less upset than me about it have completely valid opinions. However, some of the mods have made some responses in this thread that at least imply that they are critical of people who are still enthusiastic about VMP. I dunno if that is good from an official representative of the community when the mission statement says what it says.

I dunno if you are referring to me, but I'm still a VMP subscriber!

Admin are all broadly on the same page as each other on this issue. We are currently hashing together a thing which will allow the community to vote on how to handle VMP threads moving forwards. Don't know when it will get finished but expect something to happen in the next day or so.

It's been 2 weeks and we're all still finding our way ;)

I understand. I just really like this place and the mission statement and it seems weird to me to limit thread count related to a specific vinyl club unless the threads are duplicates without some forum wide rules to refer to.
