Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

Ok cool. Absolutely cool with waiting but didnt want it lost as Ive been waiting for that one 7 months now.
My Danny Brown shipped and I got it yesterday along with Mobb Deep. Black Pumas Im still waiting on and Rolling Stones is lost somewhere in USPS shipping limbo.
I’m just so happy I received a shipping notice for Mobb Deep! The colour variant looks exceptional and it apparently sounds great! I don’t mind if my copy is a bit warped, I just don’t want any skipping on my copy! 🤞

Hope you receive your Rolling Stones unexpectedly this week!!!

Yeah, I'm not as fussy about warps as some. It's like seam splits, Unless they're major I don't stress about it.

I'm sure RS will show up soon. It left the NJ fulfillment office 3 days ago and usually that means I'm getting it the next day but it's Christmas time so chaos is expected.

I’m still waiting on my November box! 📦😶🧐

I really hope my VMP box isn’t lost! 📍🤨
I never received my September box and November's tracking hasn't updated since November 15.
CS said "that's why we don't ship to Brazil" which is complete BS, I've been a member since Feb 2015 and never had disappearing boxes like this before.
They're skimping on shipping.
I did some digging and found that packages up to 2 kg are being shipped basically untracked (tracking stops when it leaves the US), only packages over that weight get proper tracking until final delivery (that's why I received my October box with no problem).
I get stuff from the US all time with no problems, via USPS, with delivery in 2 weeks.
I'm currently waiting for CS to cancel the remainder of my subscription.

I have received all my VMP boxes so far, since being a member. But I’ve always read of people not receiving their VMP box so I’m a tiny bit worried! 😳

Must be a frustrating feeling when your VMP box doesn’t come 😢

Well yeah I mean, what’s the alternative? VMP give a $35 credit for each extra copy of the record you send back? Because not only would that be disastrously bad from a financial standpoint, but even that would be “lowballing” it, considering secondhand prices will almost certainly be higher. Honestly, I really do think that most people in the vinyl community either have no interest in flipping, and/or no knowledge of how to. Is there a potential for more money to be made on the secondhand market? Sure, but it’s not like EVERYBODY got 25 copies, some people only got one or two more than what they ordered, so for them, a raffle entry is likely the better option. A free turntable, $500 in credit, a year’s subscription to all 3 tracks, etc. is a VERY hefty return on investment when the investment is “records you didn’t pay for or plan on having in the first place”, and while VMP could never compete with potential secondhand market value, I think this is the best way to handle such a fuck up

Also, of all the conspiracies I’ve seen here, “VMP has a gang of paid staffers who they instruct to downvote Reddit comments” is by far the craziest one. Maybe people downvote you because you call everyone with a different opinion a stan, bootlicker, or undercover employee?

The alternative is, they go get more copies printed to fill the orders and probably issue an apology credit to anyone that would have to wait on a repress. That is what any normal label or retailer would do.

It’s not our fault dude, it’s Saddle Creek/the computer developers/you/Brazil that messes things up.

They really are going to stick with that "we really are a small company" until the cows come home, aren't they?
They really seem to only define the size of their business by the number of direct employees they have. At the end of the day VMP is basically a contracting and marketing company. They contract a license to sell. Contract a pressing plant. Contract a shipper. All part of the venture backed mentality. Once the business slows enough, they "liquidate" stock and either sell off or layoff the few employees they have.

What they fail to see is they do big business volume. They also fail to see that having a small central staff isn't an excuse, especially for releases that are pushing MoFi prices.

Anyone get extra copies of TLC? Still waiting on shipping for that and I'm wondering if its stuck with the same issue.
Did TLC even ship yet? I haven't heard mention of anyone's shipping.

Also, does this mean that a bunch of shipments will get delayed while waiting for these returns?
Yes. There is no way they can possibly get all of them back and out the door in December unless they are also express shipping some stuff. I also noticed VMP is supposedly doing the raffle on Dec 13th. With 25 prizes up for grabs, I think that means at least 25 people were contacted for this, but probably closer to 100. Do we really think VMP is going to ship, receive, unpack, inspect, inventory and organize a raffle in 8 business days? A portion of that time is going to be lost in shipping alone. What if you don't check your email until Monday? Might as well not even bother.

What I'm really trying to say is, this is actually a good effort on their part. I like they admitted fault and are trying to do something that benefits customers in some way. BUT I don't see how they do this without having to press some additional copies.

Pressed at one of the worst pressing plants in the world no less.

That's going out of business, so hopefully these get pressed before January 31st, 2020.

And fwiw, Concord/Craft has used Rainbo for most of their recent reissues the past couple years. So it's not a surprise these would be pressed there.

They won’t. They’ll do a fake raffle, give everyone a free book and say that the big prizes must have went to a customer that’s not active on reddit, also, nobody will be getting that noname test press. They’re liars, they’ve proven it already.

And by the sounds of it there is a good chance this has some pressing defects. So even if they are able to pull this off, they’re still gonna get some really unhappy customers who waited 2-3 months longer than the flippers only to receive a likely damaged (These albums will need to survive three shipping cycles before getting to their destination) and press defected album.
