The Blue Note Thread

Just going to add that its a superb session! I picked up a copy a few months back and its just killer! Recorded the same year as 'The Sixth Sense' from memory.
Yeah, it’s one of my favorites from Lee’s later years. I’ve missed out on two copies that were sitting in my discogs cart. I’m going for the kill on this eBay one.

What do you people think about the Analogue Productions reissues of? Most of the big classics are there at $50, available through Acoustic Sounds or being repressed.

I have both Workout and Dippin' by Hank Mobley on AP45. Both sound every bit as good as a MM45 imo. Only thing I miss are those beautiful session photo's you get with MM. Then again, QRP does press some fantastic records, maybe even slightly better than RTI.

Thanks! Unless they start including those big classics in the TP serie (that will probably never happen), I'll probably start looking after those AP reissues. I read this post from 2016 a couple of days ago. I don't know what is real or not in what he wrote but I got very surprised. Being the truth, I can't understand why BN keeps working with MM.

I have absolutely no proof, but I feel like Sonic Boom will be reissued by the Tone Poet series somewhere in the next few years. Just seems like the perfect session for this series.
That’s fine, I’d buy it again. Because it’d have better artwork.

Personally think they should pick The Procrastinator because that album doesn’t get enough love.

Just got an email: All Tone Poets and BN 80s 30% off at the Blue Note store (making them $17.49 and $24.48) with free shipping over $50!

Blue Note is having 30% off their online store with free shipping over $50 for the holidays. Includes TP and BN80 so it seems TPs work out to $25 each.

Too bad it doesn't work for international buyers, $50 to have 5 records shipped to France. EDIT Well maybe that is not that bad, I could have done something really really bad here....

Im hoping its Taru......because I dont have that one yet 🤣
I hope it's NOT Taru, because I have the original pressing but would definitely buy a Tone Poet as well! Sonic Boom and/or Procrastinator would be great picks!

Damn, I almost wish I hadn't pre-ordered all these as they came out...

I have both of those! They are great to be fair. How about mixing it up with 'Hank Mobley With Donald Byrd And Lee Morgan' (I want that one :ROFLMAO:)

I haven't really paid much more than this sale price on most of the TPs luckily. I don't think I have ever spent more than $28-30 for any of them. The Target deal was still one of the best ones...buy 2 get 1 free.

Honestly, I haven't kept track of how much I paid. I just always pre-order on amazon as soon as they are put up. I'm sure I've been getting a good deal!

I am really interested in taking advantage of this sale despite my vinyl binge lately. Can anyone share experiences with BN80? It seems like TP series is universally loved, but BN80 is hit/miss with lesser packaging and pressing at Optimal instead of RTI. I want to pick up most of the TP series, but there are some other BN80's i would like as well. Otherwise, I would hold off on BN80 and keep an eye out for older pressings.
