Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

Youre thinking to much dont sub genre your genre sections. I keep mine simple:

Rock/Metal
Jazz
Classical
Country
R&B/Funk/Soul
Rap/Hip Hop
Pop/Dance/Electronic
Salsa
Christmas

And then all my japanese artists/bands are together subdivided into the Rock/Metal, Pop, and Jazz
I pretty much just separate Jazz, compilations and then everything else. Was too confusing to do more genres than that for me.

I don’t know what’s wrong with you people wasting so much time and energy on a pedantic, academic debate about A and The.

Like any sensible VMPer, I have two copies of ATCQ — one in A and one in T — so that I can find one and my wife can find one. Time and marriage saved. Money? Not so much.

EDIT: Just in case sarcasm wasn’t obvious, I have one copy in T

Which is ironic given you abbreviated them to ATCQ

Oh man a riot would start if you all saw my collection. Here we go....

Sorted by genre. Kind of.

Blue Note, Impulse!, Steeplechase organised by catalogue number. Then 2 cubes of small sets that I bought as collections (I remember which was in each). Then A-Z my jazz musician (first name). Then British jazz in its own section, split in the middle by box sets (not British jazz, just mixed - no reason other than I wanted them at the bottom of my shelf). Then groupings of releases by series (ie, Tone Poets, each jazz set that VMP released, etc). The Superfly reissue series in catalogue order comes next, obviously. Contemporary/modern jazz next (A-Z).

At that point I reach 'everything else' all in A-Z order by first name.....until 3 cubes of VMP releases makes an appearance (ROTM, Essentials, Classics - note, not R&HH). Finally, I have wine crates of the Black Jazz series, J-Jazz (sorted by label), then 3 of Rap (including the VMP R&HH series in order). A final crate of records to sell finishes it off. Oh, and a crate of 7" (no order), and 10" (no order).

But it makes sense, ya know?

I was getting ready to post this and also ask if there was ever an email about ODB because I’m going to write a measured post in the discord feedback about consistency - both in communication and resolution.
think ODB is still being sorted but not really in the loop about that one.

No word on ODB yet, other than my being told nearly a month and a half ago that an announcement was coming soon
