Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

Does anyone have the VMP exclusive of Destroyer's "Kaputt" on red vinyl? Just curious about the pressing. Is it any good?

I love that album and have an original pressing from 2011. It's not a terrible copy but it's pretty noisy. It was pressed at United as far as I can tell. Just wondering if the VMP reissue was an improvement. Any idea where was the VMP version pressed? Very little information on the VMP pressing at Discogs.

I have it! I'll give it a spin within the next day or so and send you some feedback soon 👌

Damn, it was just yesterday that I was thinking that I need to try and get this album. Older pressings and reissues are fairly expensive, beside the recent OJC ones from which I suspect these are derived.

With VMP announcing the next batch of their Prestige series on friday, I wondered what peoples wish list for it is? Im hoping they will be some of the more obscure stuff, although I realise this isn't likely from a marketing perspective. I would like to see:

Yusef Lateef - Other Sounds (Eastern Sounds would be better but its on Moodsville - a subsidiary of Presige, would that count?)

Holy shit balls I guessed something correctly

Interesting that they're pressing this at RTI after using Rainbo for the last two. If this was also remastered by KG, I'd be all over it.

Edit: What's the over/under on how long it takes VMP to start listing the mastering info with releases like this? Never?

If Storf is to be believed (caveat emptor, he is the head of written marketing for VMP), Rainbo had the contract for Etta Jones and Eric Dolphy, while RTI had the contract for Rollins and Yusef.

Discogs says the remaster is by Phil De Lancie in '91...

We've asked before. They post mastering info when it suits them.

EDIT: Sorry, that seemed harsh. I believe what Storf said about the pressing locations.

Yeah I posted this before but I’m pretty sure it’s just a color variant repress of the available OJC issue. The matrix info on Discogs looks like it has the typical RTI labeling so that’s probably where this particular master is at. VMP is most likely just repressing some vinyl using that OJC master and not remastering it at all (same as the other two albums so far from Prestige). No different than any of the Newbury Comics releases I suppose.

My reaction was MOTHERF-

I haven’t bit on a VMP exclusive outside of swaptions since last year, but this album has been on my radar for a while now. I may risk waiting (Dolphy made it to swaptions)... or not.

What's the difference (apart from color) between VMP's version and this one
