Interesting to hear the Cure at the beginning of their career, really only previously familiar with the 'hits' off this one. Very atmospheric, and A Forest really pops out from the rest of the album in terms of songwriting maturity. My favorite part might be the heavy bass that hits at the end of At Night, will definitely revisit this on late night walks in the neighborhood. 4/5

First time listening. The Cure is another band I've generally avoided for most of my life. I don't particularly dislike them though, so it's a bit odd. I actually found this to be quite an enjoyable listen, but also pretty forgettable. I quite enjoy the instrumentation throughout and the bass sound of this particular mix. 3/5
 
Been on a conference trip since sunday, but caught up with this project on the flight home yesterday. Some brief notes:

Stevie Wonder - "Innervisions": Genius at work, and a great album overall, but nothing really grabs me beyond the awesome trio of Living for the City, Visions and Higher Ground. Score: 4/5

Sepultura -"Arise": A weird album to include on this list, as it is the least interesting or groundbreaking of the Max Cavalera-era Sepultura albums. Schizophrenia and Beneath the remains introduced their unique blend of thrash and death metal to the world, and Chaos A.D and Roots sent them in new, groovier, directions. Arise is fine, but just a bit anonymous in their discography. Score 3/5.

The Cure -"Seventeen Seconds" I like The Cure, but I've rarely actually listened to any of their albums. This was ok, but I think I preferer the later more pop oriented stuff from them. Score: 2,5/5

Yeah this is a strange cure pick. I like their gothier, sort of post punk, early stuff and it’s generally much more highly regarded in the Uk than perhaps in the US. However, for me they built through that era with Faith improving on this and for purposes of a list like this Pornography is the great one of this era. It’s probably my second favourite of theirs after Disintegration. Solid 3/5 for this one.
 
Aretha Franklin ~ Lady Soul

I would have rated this 5/5 in any case, but given I just watched the Muscle Shoals doc the other day about the background musicians at Fame, it was already top of mind. And I'm a sucker for any version of People Get Ready, and this one is stellar.

5/5 - thinking this is gonna be the album that tops Tribe in the rankings.
