    Vinyl Storage Recommendation

Anyone order from Hudson hifi lately? I ordered 300 sleeves on March 29 and I’ve got nothing. I called on the 8th and they refunded 15% for the long wait. Now their website is gone. https://www.hudsonhifi.com/

    Definitive Audiophile pressings

Thanks for the heads up on this! Just bought a used Jaco like 2 days ago and I already have the Speakers Corner Herbie so I went with the other 4. I'm a little😬 on Tutu, but we'll see. At the very least it should sound great.

It took 4 copies for me (non fill on copy 1 and really nasty factory marks on copies 2 and 3) but the 4th one sounds good

On the Prestige AS series: has anyone recently bought a clean Dolphy “Far Cry” LP? I bought 2 copies months apart from music direct but both had obvious noise, most prominent during the first couple minutes of A2 even though there is no visible issue. Seems like a dirty stamper problem maybe?

Did anyone get the Rhino Jaco? Seems to have glowing reviews on Discogs.

Anyone know why they’re doing Lupe in mono? I’ve been listening on headphones (spotify) and it seems like a record that really benefits from stereo since there’s so much going on.

Whoa, Inspiration and Power! Nice. Glad to see that Bley/Peacock record too - great record no one talks about.

Yeah I just got Cannes 58 and I was blown away. Planning on getting this one and the two ‘57 LPs that are already out. Edit: nvm, they’re all 1958

I think it’s the drums, or at least the cymbals. Usually RVG drums sound amazing (even on below average SQ titles like Time for Tyner the drums sound great). I listened back to back with Lee Morgan Infinity and it’s a very different sound.

I liked Easterly Winds a lot, but I was kinda surprised that it didn’t sound that good (at least by tone poet standards) - did you get that impression too? But still, *gif of Paul Rudd saying “great recohhrd”*

    Jazz in the 1980's Thread

Manhattan Jazz Quintet! I’ve been buying their 80s LPs over the last year or two and I find them to be really good. They occasionally veer toward schmaltzy but generally they are just shredding jazz standards. Eddie Gomez/Steve Gadd on most of those records, and generally very good sound.

I hope Blackstone sells like crazy and they feel confident to take some chances. I re-listened to the whole Joe Henderson Milestone years box set a few weeks ago and it is just so good from front to back. Any of those LPs would be great to see from the dispensary.

Interesting - a couple of weeks ago I was thinking about something similar when I was listening to some of the "Exclusively for my friends" albums with Sam Jones and Bobby Durham. I played Travellin On first and thought it was boring, but The Way I Really Play and Mellow Mood were much better...

    J-Jazz (Japanese Jazz)

Got Kohsuke, Four Compositions, and Yamataifu. Haven't listened to Yamataifu yet but the other 2 sounded really good. Very clean pressings and clear/detailed sound. Kohsuke especially has some serious bass that you don't usually get on jazz records. I don't have anything to compare these to...

I hadn’t listened to my circa 2010 OJC copy of Waltz for a while and wanted to give it a spin before buying the new reissue. It sounded so good I decided to lay off the new one. I’m sure the new one is better, but I was pleasantly surprised how satisfying the older ojc was.

Instead of reissuing $8 records, VMP should have done something cool like Live at the House of Tribes which has never been on vinyl, is the perfect length for double LP, and is a great record. #fuckchad
