Phono Cartridges - Your favorites and least favorites?

Not at all. I just couldn’t pass up the deal I got on the Hana so decided to see how good it was. The Opus is great. So far, I like the Hana but need to put a few more hours in her before I come to a final conclusion. Worst case, I should be able to easily get back what I have in her but I don’t...

She arrived today and got her spinning. Ended up with her for just over $400 shipped from across the pond. Used with very low hours. So far, very pleased.

So this happened today. Couldn’t pass up the deal I got on it so seeing how she sounds compared to the Opus3. Using my UHQR kind of blue for reference and I have to say I’m impressed. Not impressed with how long it took my to set up. My skills are slipping.

Phono Cartridges - Your favorites and least favorites?

Hell of a deal! This is exactly the kind of info I was looking for. Just saw a Hana sl pop for under $500. Don’t remember if you’ve had exp with the Hana or not. What are your thoughts on it?

Was curious what you liked about the sonata3 vs the Hana sl as I may have a beat on a decent deal on a Hana but was originally thinking sonata. Thanks in advance.

Phono Cartridges - Your favorites and least favorites?

Considering a Grado Reference Master 1 woodie with unknown hours. Seller asking 495€ shipped to the US. Currently running an Opus3 with thoughts of eventually upgrading to a Sonata3. Would the high output of the reference still be an upgrade from the current Sonata3? Is this a fair price...

True. I’ve had three different carts on mine so far in as many months. I should just enjoy the process instead of trying to simplify it. Thanks for talking me down. lol 😉

I don’t know. I guess it just doesn’t feel like that much more futzing than disconnecting/connecting the leads when switching cartridges, but maybe you’re right. I was just hoping to figure out an easier way to compare/audition carts. Oh well.

Agreed not in the traditional sense but if willing to thread the leads when swapping carts it would save the trouble of mounting. Maybe not worth the trouble but thought it might be slightly easier than starting from scratch any time you might audition a new cart. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I don’t believe so. Granted you’d have to carefully thread the leads out of the old headshell and in through the new each time you switched them but I’d think that would still make for easier swapping. 🤷🏻‍♂️ I’m assuming the headshell can be removed (w/o leads) by loosening the set screw for...

Quick question. Where can I get replacement head shells for the sd?

New ultrasonic vinyl cleaner in the works: Humminguru

Thinking about pulling the trigger and joining the ranks. Although I’ve used a diy ultrasonic cleaner to clean >1000 records, 6 at a time, I’d prefer a method without manual drying and after reading most of the posts here, the hg seems to be the answer. I currently use tergikleen. Would it be...

@Pergo just to add my two cents, I’m quite enjoying my opus3, courtesy of @Ghost, in my similar setup, studiodeck, ultraphono, Marantz pm6007. Just Cornwalls vs kefs. Plan to take advantage of Grady’s exchange program when the opus is at the end and turn her into a sonata

Cables - one of the most taboo subjects in audio

I figured as much. I’m sure there’s value there in the right application, but probably not mine. Thanks. 😁

Cables - one of the most taboo subjects in audio

Hello gang, After making my first cable upgrade with WBCs and being pleased with their build quality and performance, I’m looking at grabbing some of their speaker wires. Here’s the question, is it worth paying double for 9 awg (fine strand ofc) vs 14 awg mogami 3082? Edit: short runs under 10’.

Appreciate the compliment. The original fabric wasn’t in great shape and I found this fabric and loved the look. Need to re-apply the badges but haven’t gotten around to it. I know it’s not true to original but I like how it turned out.

Thanks! Work in progress. There’s also these two of my best friends bought me this og press Before These Crowded Streets for my birthday when I first got into records. Trying to pick up the live track on cd when I can since I’ll likely never have them all on vinyl

Finally have my setup close to done so decided to start listening to something other than my uhqr KOB or Abraxas records for reference. Really enjoying the evolution over the past month with the SD. Even Sadie is noticing the improvements 😂. Thanks to @Ghost for hooking me up with the Opus...
