New ultrasonic vinyl cleaner in the works: Humminguru

I thought the same thing. I was told that the record was "quite visibly dusty and displayed symptoms of static," prior to trials. This was part of their initial, "whats it take to move debris testing" I believe.... they weren't even really testing for sound improvement yet. At that stage...

That's the direction I'm looking to try next... I actually reached out to Groovewasher when I was first doing my review videos and just so happens they had a HumminGuru they were testing with at the same time.... They shared their results with me (no affiliation with Groovewasher, but they are...

Even though I DO have an extra HG water tank... I too am NOT doing a separate "rinse cycle and/or distilled water only wash/wipe." Which is kind of why I am currently using the Groovewasher G2 fluid in my HG, as it is specifically made to use with either rinse or no rinse. Considering I used to...

I'm not necessarily at liberty to share this (as I didn't ask to, but wasn't told I couldn't), but I thought I'd go ahead and share with you all (please keep this here only), some insight into "surfactant use etc." I got from one of our favorite "love him or hate him" audiophiles... Really just...

I saw his response to the YouTube question about just trying "normally dirty records," and wanted to call BS.... I mean " I have no records with surface noise".... really? Am I crazy to think that is an impossible statement, assuming you have more than 25 records??? I guess he just has a super...

THAT is impressive and does say something in favor of the HumminGuru... I actually have lost count of how many LPs have run through mine (over 100+ for sure), do know I have definitely used my fair share of 1-gallon containers of Distilled water (though I am recycling water to some degree at...

I wouldn't let THAT be the reason to stop ya... Noise level was one of the biggest "hang-ups" I had about RCMs and one major reason why I chose the HumminGuru... in terms of noise level it FAR exceeded my expectations. I think its quite quiet for what it does... Loudest part is the "drain...

New ultrasonic vinyl cleaner in the works: Humminguru

I thought it was an Ok review (even commented as such) but did think a couple "oddities." Certainly to start with the title and approach "perhaps its not truly ultrasonic" is a bit of "attention grabbing." While I did/do questions plenty of aspects on the HuimminGuru, didn't think or have reason...

And to add to the warm/hot water... through talking to various people (manufacturers, reviewers etc.) it seems consensus (ha ha right) isnt so much that a record cleaning machine MUST have a heated bath, but more so its REALLY important to know your water temp. Being that the ultrasonic action...

For me the benefit has been noticeably better cleaned/sounding records... Caveat that with the fact that my water temp, from just having the jug of distilled water sitting in my music room was averaging ~69ºF - 70ºF. So I was, as far as I can tell, working with "less than room temp water"...

I too have been warming the water a bit... and found it helpful. That said though, I was told NOT to exceed 100ºF (totally an opinion, but one form a well experienced industry veteran). So I have been starting with slightly above room temp, say ~80ºF. I also found (my experience) the water temp...

Well, "could be" age... my 19-year old son CANT be in the room with the HG running the ultrasonic either.... Though I have had ~2-runs where it seems like one transducer hit an "odd frequency" that all of a sudden made more of a shriek/dentist drill level buzz, only happened twice though. In my...

Agreed, and one FACT I cant highlight enough is how Quiet the machine is... I actually "cleaned" records while my whole house slept, never woulda thought THAT possible with an ultrasonic/automated cleaning machine. Ben (polypetalous)

Wow, thats AWESOME to read and, and crazily enough I am listening to Nantucket Sleighride as I type this... While I have not (yet) had the same experience I hold hope.... but will say that I had a "bit more pleasing" results this weekend going a bit "out of bounds" on the process (warmer water...

Thank you for the welcome, seems like a great place here... Really just wanted to express that I too was surprised (and bummed) by my experiences/results with the HG. And I dont discount anyone else saying that their experiences are contrary to mine. Ben

No unfortunately no $5k cleaner here, I am a pretty modest hi-fi fan... this is my FIRST and only record cleaning machine (aside from a Spin-Clean). I don't rule out anything, and you are right that static "could: be playing into it... It is getting to be the "dry season" here with the furnace...
