Phono Cartridges - Your favorites and least favorites?

So my cart just before the SAE was a Opus3. I really like the Opus3, it was heaps better in my system than a BluePoint2 I was using. My system sounded much more balanced and lacked the distinct glare in the mids that I was getting from the BluePoint. Then come this little gem at almost a third...

Phono Cartridges - Your favorites and least favorites?

Wow. Fun article. I guess fiddling is half the fun. But sometimes, I just like it to be easier. For me the questions always are. Am I doing this right? Is it sounding good? Then there are nights that reply,”yes!” Things are good! Then there are days the say “No! What is wrong now??

Phono Cartridges - Your favorites and least favorites?

Well I installed my SAE today. This is my second one, the first one was completely corroded and I send it back. This second one looks very clean, like it was manufactured recently and no corrosion at all. Although upon closer inspection, the cantilever is a bit off to one side by a degree or so...

That looks exactly like the one I received, I think mine is actually worst. I ordered another one, explaining to them the one I received before and asking them to check before they ship. I received it yesterday and it looks perfect. will install later today and check the sound. Good luck.

Yea I just got it yesterday so I should be within the window. The particles on the cantilever is rather hard, seams more like corrosion and dust as it took many tries to clean the tip itself. I am just afraid the coil will be too corroded as well.

Phono Cartridges - Your favorites and least favorites?

So I couldn't resist getting the SAE even though I recently just got the new Opus3 to sound great. But for $100 I couldn't resist. The problem now is that the cart is extremely dirty and the pins corroded. I used some steel wool to clean the pins and a stylus brush to clean the diamond. There is...

    MoFi SourcePoint Speaker Thread

Wondering how different these are going to be different from the Tannoys. I have the 15'' Arden which sounds absolutely hefty. I wouldn't mind adding a 12" or 10" for a somewhat agile sound. BTW why are point source designs coming back in vogue in recent years?

Grado Cartridges and Stylus - Questions and Advice.

Thank you for the tips. The index card is brilliant! Probably much easier to see than a clear acrylic block. Really looking forward to checking the Grado sound out. I am really appreciating all the info available as to the different type of sounds one can expect from the hundreds of carts...

Grado Cartridges and Stylus - Questions and Advice.

Thank you for the advice and warning!! So you want the cartridge to be parallel but not the arm, is that correct?

Grado Cartridges and Stylus - Questions and Advice.

Thank you for your input! Balancing the music towards warm and fuller body without harsh mids is definitely where I like to move to. On another note, my tonearm is listed at around 13.5g and the Opus3 mass at 8. Will this be problematic? The photos I’ve seen of the cart also shows that it’s a...

Grado Cartridges and Stylus - Questions and Advice.

Hello Folks. Long time reader and my first post on this forum. I am researching an upgrade for my Pro-Ject Classic's cartage which is a Sumiko Blue Point No.2. and the Grado Gold3 and Opus3 caught my attention. I was wondering if anyone here has experience with the Blue Point and can chime in on...
