Michael Fremer did an article and a video about the upgrades that he did to his grounding. With old houses, there can be lots of mods over the years, as well as aging and newer codes mixing with older ones, that can contribute to poor grounding.

One source of noise is poor grounding in the house wiring. If the ground potential is too high in one outlet relative to another, that can induce ground loops that create noise. If you have very little noise in your environment, I'd likely attribute it to superior grounding techniques during...

Those are voice coil leads. In older cones, bringing the leads through the center of the cone and back out through the cone surface was not uncommon. The glue covers the leads.

VAS will retip your Nagaoka, too. I asked Steve about retipping a 2M Blue once and he said it was no problem. The boron cantilever on the top Nagaokas will push up the price, though.

Unshielded RCA cables will tend to allow more EMI than shielded ones. The WBC and BJC have braided shields. The AQ features some mumbo jumbo “Carbon-Based 3-Layer Noise-Dissipation”. I can’t confirm what it is, but it seemed to be effective in this test.

I did get a pair of WBC XLR cables and they perform well sound wise. However, they lacked the locking hole on the male ends, so I would by BJC if doing it over again.

I’m surprised, too. Would not expect that of a Class D amp, but my Class AB amps definitely benefit from some warm up time.

The new La Scala's actually use the smaller Forte woofer in a ported/horn hybrid to get deeper bass with horn efficiency and even less distortion (like the Jubilees do). For me, an older model would be the way I'd go because the newest ones have gotten to be too damn expensive for my tastes.
