Equipment Recommendations - The Home For New System and Upgrade Advice

If the Edifiers don't work with a speaker output, they may work better with a pre-out which the C316 BEE does not have. The NAD D3020 V2 has that but you might need to find one that is refurbished or used to hit the price point...

The C316 BEE is a great option with an internal phono that’s likely better than the one in the table. A Wiim Amp Pro would be an alternative without a phono, but with a streamer and Bluetooth. https://www.crutchfield.com/S-4gVwcDPqFU9/p_399WAMPPRO/WiiM-Amp-Pro.html

Frankly, there is not much separating most of these high power Class D amps other than brand, build quality and aesthetics. The heavy lift engineering was done by Bruno Putzeys and most manufacturers are just assembling using his modules. The way he has dominated the Class D market is...

The Absolute Sound seems to like the NAD C298 now, but they are a bit late to the party.

If you’re new to a unipivot, you may want to consider the dual pivot attachment to tame the wobble which is characteristic of this bearing type. Some people are fine with it in standard configuration.

New ultrasonic vinyl cleaner in the works: Humminguru

Have had my VPI for about 8 years now. I don’t use gloves to change the belt on the pulley. It’ll be alright.

That Prime X is attractively priced. It's even a bit lower than the Super Prime Scout 21 (what a mouthful!) that Upscale Audio had been hawking.

During those years, I used a decent MM with a replaceable stylus that I wouldn’t cry about. When the stylus got bent by unknown forces, I rode out to the record store and bought a new one.

From the Stereophile article on the SL-1300G: "As Bill Voss explained: The 1300G uses the same basic tonearm, with the same bearings and bits as the 1200G, but substitutes an aluminum armtube for the magnesium pipe on the 1200G. And! According to Bill, the only difference between the 9"...

The Technics Turntable Fan Club - Questions, Advice, Discussion

I'm not advocating that anyone should buy the SL-1000R; I'm saying that the Grand Class mid-tier looks remarkably close to the top Reference class flagship, but not equal. Regarding the SL-1000R tonearm - it's not much to look at but the performance is comparable to much more expensive...

The SAEC tonearms for the TEAC turntables are pretty sweet performers at their price point. Very similar designs are used in the much more expensive Luxman PD-151 Mk2.

Perusing the HiFi News files today and decided to compare the SL-1200GR2 measurements to those of the SL-1000R. 👀 Kinda flabbergasted by how close they measure for the difference in price and the 1300G is thought to be even better...

    Tonearm recommendations, thoughts, favorites?

This one is for the geeks and nerds only... I found this whitepaper from 1977 which describes the "audible effects of mechanical resonances in turntables". What I found particularly fascinating was how differently tonearms performed using the same turntable and cartridge. The only person I...
