Indeed! Actually, I can reveal I'm a (grumpy-old) 45 year old and I am aware my ears no longer hear some higher frequencies like I used to so a second career as a mastering engineer may be out of the cards. :) On the bright side, this is apparently better for my wallet! Thanks again to...

    The Blue Note Thread

Yeah, I have a few 45’s and I understand the differences in theory but prefer 33’s so I don’t have to get up to flip the disc so much. Thanks for sharing - even if the MMJ is better “live” you’ve sold me already on the BN80 :) Those MMJ are so nice, though. I’m hoping they will restock a few...

Interesting!. I assume the digital conversion may lose a little something, but pretty hard for me to tell a difference -- really trying to listen carefully to the trumpet and I *might* hear a only a very slight difference, and I think my ear prefers the 1st ("A version"). But, it is very close...

Vinyl Me Please Rap & Hip Hop

Perhaps some kind of ranking? e.g., sales? #records_sold (#sales ranking) I haven't figured out how to find a sales ranking yet.

    The Colemine Records rabbit hole

It's a great idea, and it's in my cart now....however in my relatively short vinyl collecting career, I seem to have run a quite the gamut of problems with online orders, and I keep thinking somehow the package will come with a broken jar of honey all over the albums. Ah, screw it, I'll do it...

    The Colemine Records rabbit hole

Ok, this is a new one for me for music-related "merch": how many of you have ordered this from Colemine? https://www.coleminerecords.com/collections/merch/products/b-wesley-bright-the-honeytones-b-br-i-3-oz-jar-of-honey-i-br-font-color-ff0000-release-date-10-19-2018-font

    The Colemine Records rabbit hole

Wow, researching this album I see someone paid $93 the red RSD version and for Close But No Cigar $100 for the coke-bottle color variant this year and the median is around $70 for both. I'll be taking one in black, thank you...

    The Colemine Records rabbit hole

Ha! I quote myself because apparently I jinxed it. I had two shipments at which left at the same time - one arrived yesterday, while USPS is taking the other on quite the road trip: Loveland to Detroit is ~250 miles - this route is almost 2000 miles (assuming they go to Detroit next!). Double...

    The Colemine Records rabbit hole

Yeah, it seems USPS likes to route the shipping through Pittsburgh as well before coming back north to Detroit. ....NO HURRY USPS...TAKE YOUR TIME... (usually gets here soon :) ).

Clearly, Colemine/Plaid Room is reading these forums since they have realized how good of a customer I am, my Neal Francis and SFSE were shipped today! Huzzah! (and so on on so forth). @Lee Newman, did you get your shipping confirmation yet?

Oh, man, sampled 10 seconds and I'm hooked. Did Soul Scratch and another Ikebe. So good. Thanks for the tips - need the Colemine subscription NOW :)

    The Colemine Records rabbit hole

FWIW, I have these two ordered as well and I haven't seen a shipping notice yet. This is ~1 month early from estimated release, no? Or do they typically send the pre-orders earier? Only 19 copies left of SFSE says their webiste.

Well, crap, apparently I should have gone to the Academy instead! :) https://www.timeout.com/newyork/music/best-record-stores-in-nyc I'll have to figure out a way to get back there sometime.

    Jazz

Yeah, that's what I think they were selling them for. My local shop gives me a discount -- a little more than what I would pay on Amazon. I wish I had more time to review/search for used/older pressings. Oh well, glad to get a little time to do this instead of working :)

    Jazz

Oh, and check their hours - they close at 6pm!

    Jazz

Well, they are pretty standard I think - I don't think you're getting great deals there. But, they seem to have a lot of stuff. I only had 15 minutes so I didn't get a lot of time to review. The Tone Poets were more than what I pay in Michigan, but I think not a fair comparison in NYC.

So...I had a business trip to NYC this past week, and I had a little time to visit a record shop so without much research I picked the Jazz Record Center https://www.jazzrecordcenter.com This place isn't obvious - as I walked up I looked for a storefront but this is a place on the 8th floor...
