So... I just got a shipping notice for Hail Cesar. It took two firm emails to customer service to get it shipped. My sub is up at the end of September and I’m out. Still have $35 in credit to spend, so I think I’m going to find something/anything that I like which they have in hand and get...

Hi everyone! Just curious if anyone has received their copy of Hail Ceasar? I emailed CS and was told to wait “a few weeks”. 😒

The best concerts you've ever seen:

I have a hard time trying to rank the best concerts I’ve seen, BUT, I can recall the two most disappointing ones very easily. A Tribe Called Quest. This was a small show on my college campus during their tour for Peoples Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm. The opening act was our local...

So... I got a reply from Pauly regarding my Skull Session misfortune. Here’s the response: “ Hey there, Extremely sorry about that! Turns out, only 3-4 non members got copies, but I still get the frustration. Are you still receiving those emails regularly? Let me know, but again, I am so...

Grant Green, Funk In France. 3 LP. 2018 RSD pressing by Resonance Records. Live funky workouts from Green with trio and quartet. The 1969 session from Maison de la Radio in Paris on the first record sounds louder and more dynamic than the recordings from the Antibes Jazz Festival on the remain...

    Vinyl Me Please Classics

I’ve came across this record at least twice in the past year or so at the flea market, thrift store or antique store, can’t really remember. I know I’ve passed it up multiple times before that in my record collecting career. I have a decent copy I bought many years ago for a dollar or so. It’s...

    Vinyl Me Please Classics

Really underwhelmed by the choice of Brubeck’s Jazz Impressions of Japan. It’s a fairly common album and one that’s merely good, not great. Ho hum, time to swap out again.

20th anniversary reissue of the one that started it all: DJ P and Z-Trip’s Uneasy Listening volume 1 ushered in the brief but happy era of the mash-up a generation ago. Props to DJ P for keeping it real, still rocking all vinyl sets these many years later and able to go toe to toe with just...

    What's Spinning

Hard to go wrong with Cal Tjader in my book. “Guarabe”, from 1976 is a bit of a fusion-y ride through some familiarly solid Tjader grooves that nonetheless remains funky despite some of the questionably slick production flourishes common to the era.
