I have a couple dozen titles and they really are incredible, but I paid release price or less - but given the delta now, the juice probably isn't worth the squeeze, I also remember them being in the bins at a lot of local LA stores 8-10 years ago, ...I also wish they weren't gatefolds, but...

apparently there is some drama about the box they did, whether its not true AAA...ive never heard it but considering those three albums are some of the best recorded and sounding records around...who knows, maybe they should just enjoy the music... that being said, I have originals, so I win...

people seem fired up about the Impex TBM reissues - I only have the two later ones that were recorded to PCM digital in the first place (which sound/look amazing) - but the Impex team is the old Cisco team, so they have a serious existing relationship with the TBM catalog - it would be...

saw this as well.... https://bbemusic.com/product/j-jazz-free-and-modern-jazz-from-japan-1954-1988-2 that's pretty rich, but my record covers book collection has a j-jazz sized hole in it....

    J-Jazz (Japanese Jazz)

also very interesting - like that they are mixing it up a bit - BG has been cutting some of the big city pop reissues that have come out in the last few years (and I also think Japanese consumers are starting to ask about these things) from digital - there isn't a lot of clarity on the TBM...

    J-Jazz (Japanese Jazz)

for the most part agree - but they are definitely variable, some are better than others, but this probably has to do with the recordings - these are cut from digital files, and that's not something I care about in general (as long as it sounds good) also - was wrong the Think! reissue was not...

    J-Jazz (Japanese Jazz)

this is interesting...in fiesta was reissued by Think! disk union about 10 years ago as part of master tapes series and sounds seriously good...wonder what the source is on this one as Project Re:vinyl is lawson/hmv - either way its a screamer and the samples fly everywhere

Yeah, ive got a bunch of MM that I guess I was lucky to buy on release, still prefer things to be replica of the original - like doing replica Unipaks on some of the late 60s/early 70s funky titles....but they are premium, and most consumers have never seen an original so...anyone can comment...

    The Blue Note Thread

agree...im pretty over the gatefold thing for the sake of gatefold...for reissues the goal should be to replicate the original as closely as possible, IMO

Turntable setup question - swapping head shells/carts

Hey Everyone - Quick question about swapping head shells - I have a Dr Feickert with an Ortofon/Jelco tonearm that appears to be identical in geometry to the one on my new Technics 1500c (quality not withstanding). I have a number of carts that are mounted on removable head shells that are set...
