very aware of this, they manufacture some amazing high quality goods, but just having to 'defend' (for lack of a better word) illuminates my point - china is a complicated story, which is best told through global brands who use it for manufacturing high quality (but still very cost efficient)...

also just whining a bit as I earn Japanese yen so everything is stupid expensive outside Japan - with a few more reviews the high end one would speak to me (at $750)

is not the whole point of manufacturing in China to take advantage of cost in general, across the board, in nearly every single industry...? and with MC phono carts, you're in a niche market of a niche market where details matter...consumers who are spending this kind of money on cartridges have...

im not hating, just my two cents...but the 499 goes to 899 after launch, id say if you're in the market for a 900 cart then an extra 300 isn't really a decision maker, and a poor pricing strategy overall, especially for a new brand with no brand equity as mentioned - all being said, im sure it...

does for me - at $400 I may have pulled the trigger to try - given the higher end specs, and at $900 hard pass, way too much competition - made in china (even if that's a good thing) and considering they are lowering price on their top model to that level - obvs not sure what their cost basis is...

I also did just get new speaker cable, and a much longer run...but cables don't effect sound ;-)

and remember this is TBM I'm talking about...only comparing to this world, not the normal world..;-)

so picked up one of the next batch of TBM reissues, Toki by Hidefumi Toki today - excited for this one as I don't own an original and originals are stupid expensive...and this is "spiritual" in the most listenable way, plus a guitar which tends to soften things a bit to my liking.... so...SQ is...

the east wind catalog is ripe for some high-end vinyl reissues, not sure why these aren't seeing the light (same goes for the Kenwood/Trio label) - I was able to buy dozens of these for less than ¥1000 each in perfect condition 5-10 years ago, now they are almost never seen in the bins here...

as someone who is clearly a fan, and I'm glad things are coming into print, I'm getting to a point of overload with a lot of these titles - like do I need another Jiro Inagaki record...probably not, but someone does...anywho, the bottom two are rare as hens teeth and never seen in the wild...
