Mr. Hands seems like a wild choice. It is available for under 10 bucks, sometimes under 5, and in good condition at just about any record store I visit.

Ah, my bad! Exact issue I would call out for the Impulse as well. Still a lot of the Impulse catalog available at really nice prices on really nice wax if you move past the orange and black labels and into the later 60s and early 70s pressings.

This record was pressed so many times back in the day that you can find 60's Liberty and 70s United Artists 33rpm pressings with the Van Gelder master plates for decent prices if you keep an eye on Discogs/ReverbLP/Ebay.

I upgraded to the Blue from the Red about a year ago and love it. I also listen to a lot of jazz and I have found the Blue to have a much better sound on acoustic bass. It sounds quite a bit fuller to my ears.

You should check out the Donald Byrd stuff with the Mizel brothers if you're not familiar. Blue Note just did a nice reissue of his record "Ethiopian Knights" too, which is funky as hell and so good.
