Anyone know if the new label is all digital? Did not see any physical preorder info on those releases.

Blessed to be near some great shops in Chicago, but very glad I am not around the corner from Academy or Human Head. I do enough damage visiting those spots once every other year or so!

Strong list! I thought Binker's "Abstractions..." was phenomenal. Very surprised it was not more celebrated. Binker and Moses "Journey to the Mountain of Forever" is also a favorite from the UK scene. I think the First Wildflower and the Ill Considered 1 and 3 are my top albums of the...

I bought a handful of the early Bill Evans records from Ella many years back and it was one of my wisest vinyl purchases of all time. The dead quiet Japanese pressings really shine for the subtle magic of Evans and co.

Interstellar Space and Expression are two particular favorites of mine from the last era of Coltrane. I think the in-studio later work shines brighter than the live stuff.

I have been listening to the late period of Coltrane heavily this week. Some folks in my circle really do not enjoy his work post-A Love Supreme, but I firmly disagree. There are some pieces here and there that I do not particularly care for, but in general I can celebrate the entire Coltrane...

Bummed that they got a new bassist. I loved their original player. I wonder if he will be out of Wildflower as well.

That Nickelsdorf set is really fun. I wish the recording wasn't quite so bright, but the playing is fantastic.

I think Spacewalk is quite nice. I would say the quality is basically the same as the Rendell/Carr reissues but the price is sadly close to double.

Interesting. I thought Klimt was French. I have the boot they did of the Sun Ra Horo sessions and its not great but it was definitely worth the low price. I am hoping I feel the same way about the Westbrook.

Yea, never really heard him play in a small group until this late 70s period. I think it really lets his playing shine vs. the usual sax pyrotechnics and multi-layered percussion or vocals that often take front and center.

Solid list! Definitely has a lot of my favorites too. I am very fond of "God is more than love can ever be." So awesome to hear him in a piano trio context.

Any other Ra fanatics have favorites tied to specific eras of the group? Always into re-examining the catalog with some new perspective.

The Latest News from Neptune - a Sun Ra thread

Just found this thread. Massive Sun Ra fan here! New Steps, which is collected in that grey box posted above, is often my favorite release from the catalog although it is hard to commit. Been really enjoying the alternate version of Lanquidity that came in the box.

I can second that Miles Davis – Live At The Plugged Nickel (1982, Vinyl) is a fine version of the Plugged Nickel sessions.

Finally got a vinyl copy of Immanuel Wilkins "Omega." Really nice sound, looks like a Grundman mastering job. Loving the Isiah Collier 2xlp too. Anyone checked it out?
