    Fresh Grabs

Always held out on the 2014 reissues, then Scott 4 went out-of-print, so I was pretty amazed to find these two in one week for decent prices! Original Japanese pressings with full inserts.

I was initially sad with the breakup of Chairlift, but these new singles have wiped that out pretty instantly. Such an inspired and interesting direction.

Mad that I have to give their show tonight a miss! Gonna be watching Yaeji instead. Also I'm just sitting here awaiting anything City Hunter puts out in the future. That album is a glorious mess.

Shamek Farrah - First Impressions This gets fairly overlooked in the field of 70s jazz reissues but it’s a beautiful album that’s a gem from the Strata-East label. Personally this is one of those reissues where I’m not pining for an OG copy - it just sounds that good. Kate Bush - Never For...

Takako Mamiya - Love Trip It’s not uncommon in 80s Japanese pop (or as we all currently know it, city pop) for artists to release an album and disappear into obscurity, but I wish Takako Mamiya had more in her to give. If you’re familiar with city pop but haven’t delved into this one, it’s a...

Their guitarist asked me for weed at a festival a few years back. They killed it though. Duke Ellington, Charles Mingus, Max Roach - Money Jungle I guess Mingus is a lot more interesting to me as a composer than a player, so his work here appeals to me less, but it’s still such a solid listen.

Count me excited for her upcoming album Caligula. She has so much more to offer and yet this album was already a wholly affecting and accomplished one.

    What's Spinning

Compilation of Ruby Rushton’s two very good Trudi’s Songbook EPs. Ironside from this year is great but Vol. 1 sticks out for being more groovy and less jam-y. Either way this band has done no wrong in the scope of modern UK jazz.

Hoping to get the Crack the Skye 45rpm issue someday! Was extremely lucky enough to find Blood Mountain for a great price a few years back. Still taking this in! I don’t know what to make of it yet but I already love Gail Ann Dorsey on this.

Record cleaning - what's your method?

Yeah I don't think that's particularly new information, it's just amazing to see the actual result. I just can't believe that there are still so many labels using Rainbo and United.

Record cleaning - what's your method?

Changed the head of my paint edger today and this is the dirt accumulated after about six months! About 70% of the records cleaned were bought new

I haven’t even listened to the new album by The National yet, but they’re one of the few music acts whose new music I’d buy on vinyl regardless - not a great thing when I wanna make space for other artists but  Never been as excited to get vinyl as I did when I snapped up The Aegean...
