A little over your budget, but the Kinki Studio EX-M1+ would be my choice. Closer to $2k checkout the Cambridge Audio EXA100. I auditioned the PM8006 4-5 years ago and opted for a CA CXA81 which was/is an excellent amp.

How is the LOMC in the DL preamps? I have an MP7B and am thinking of picking up a Hana S, but not sure whether to go with the H or the L. Currently using a MasterTracker on my UltraDeck.

Subs are not just for boom. You should be able to isolate them with some isoacoustic stands. A sub might help you in that bigger space.
