    Darlington Labs MM-6 USA Tour

I hadn't planned on replacing my phonostage anytime soon, but that is the next component I would upgrade. Now you've got me thinking.... (though I'd rather spend $ on vinyl rather than equipment). ;)

    Darlington Labs MM-6 USA Tour

I'll be interested to hear your thoughts of the MM-6 vs. the MP-7 (I'm sure the 7 is somewhat better, but not sure if it's as cost effective as the 6, as I am on a budget). I do hear high end detail with my Lounge, but you feel the Lounge is restricted on the top end compared to others?

On another note... the cueing on my StudioDeck lifts up slightly at an angle rather than straight up. so that when I lower back it starts playing before where I raised it. Anyone know if that can be adjusted?

I'm curious what your thoughts are regarding a Darlington Labs MM-6 or 7 versus a used Sutherland (probably KC vibe). (just trying to get input for if/when I do upgrade my phono stage).

Darn this hobby... I have been happy with the performance of my Lounge, however this forum has got me looking at Darlington Labs and it does sound intriguing, as a phono stage likely is the next upgrade I would make. I'm bummed I missed out on the Darlington tour.

Record cleaning - what's your method?

I mix it into the tank with water, and run at a temperature of 33-35 degrees C (90-95 F). Depending on the speed that your motor spins the record in the solution, you may want to adjust the time per the results you get, faster-longer, slower-shorter. Mine spins at about 1 rpm and I get good...

I use a Nag MP-200, which is not a bright or analytical cart by any means, and my tweeters are certainly present. It may not have sounded good to you in your system, but for many others it does. Out of dozens of reviews I have read of the Lounge, yours is the only one I've seen bash it. YMMV is...

Phono Cartridges - Your favorites and least favorites?

Reducing surface noise is a noticeable improvement, so I would suggest an ultrasonic rcm. If you're looking for the greatest bang for the buck, I've been very happy with the results from using a diy one from Vevor. For under $250 it's hard to beat, and for more $ a HumminGuru would be nice.

New ultrasonic vinyl cleaner in the works: Humminguru

The World of Sid & Marty Krofft was a trip, especially if your senses were "heightened". It's a shame it lasted less than a year.

Record cleaning - what's your method?

I got one from Vevor and am very happy with it. I think it is one of the most cost effective things you can do to improve vinyl playback. My records come out with very little to no surface noise at all. I used a Spin Clean previously as well. I now use it as a rinse after ultrasonic cleaning...

Put a MP-200 stylus on the Nagaoka MP-150 on my Studiodeck and had a technician come out to align with pro tools. Even before any break in, vinyl sounds better than it ever has on my system! This should keep me contented for quite awhile. :giggle:

Record cleaning - what's your method?

Yeah, you pretty much just have to figure it out, which fortunately isn't too hard. What voltage adaptor did you get? If it's 24v it may be more effective to run longer or get a lower voltage one.

Record cleaning - what's your method?

Tergitol works very well. You can find it on Ebay and Amazon.

Record cleaning - what's your method?

Sadly I have sold many records through the years because they had more surface noise than I preferred. I certainly wish I had held on to them to clean now with my ultrasonic cleaner.

Record cleaning - what's your method?

I've used a similar one to clean about 125 records so far and have had excellent results. If money wasn't an object a purpose built ultrasonic cleaner would be nice. I'm on a budget however and seek the most bang for my buck. The DIY ultrasonics may not be pretty, but they provide similar...

Record cleaning - what's your method?

After ultrasonic cleaning, records I purchased new starting since the mid 60's still play with negligible surface noise, and ones purchased used range from little to no noise. Many that are over 50 years old are as quiet as digital. Granted I have always handled my records carefully through the...

Record cleaning - what's your method?

I use an ultrasonic cleaner with distilled water and Tergitol 15-S-7 (2ml /gal), rinse with distilled water in a Spin Clean, then air dry in a rack. After that records I have cared for have no surface noise, and used records I have purchased have little to no surface noise. BTW... I was able to...
