Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

Yeah, the Impulse and Blue Note anthologies to me are outliers in the VMP Anthology series because they are basically leftover stuff they were able to reissue, not the best, most important or definitive albums from the label or artist — which is what all the other anthologies tend to be.

    Vinyl Me, Please Rock

Yeah I have the Cinco First Five LPs. box set that includes the Kevin Gray Tres Hombres, can confirm it sounds ridiculously good. Pressed at RTI too. That was a great box, only cost like $90 for 5 AAA albums all pressed at RTI with great packaging. The good old days of "cheap" all analog vinyl...

    Vinyl Me, Please Rock

They said on the latest Lost Sounds Found podcast that ZZ Top is AAA/Ryan Smith.

    Vinyl Me, Please Rock

I already have the Kevin Gray 2fer too, but I'm getting to VMP mostly for fancy packaging, and it'll be cool to see how it sounds AAA/RKS .

    Vinyl Me, Please Rock

new cut by Ryan K Smith. Apparently they put Iggy in a room with the tape and a mixing console and let him do what he wanted, no pro tools. I think this actual remixing event happened in the early 90s but wasn't released until '97. VMP said they were surprised when Sony offered them a dub of the...

    Vinyl Me, Please Rock

Stooges mastering/mixing is the Iggy Mix cut AAA from the tapes by Ryan Smith. Not sure about Tres Hombres other than it's Ryan Smith also.

    Vinyl Me, Please Rock

That is the copy I have and it sounds great. Nice flat quiet pressing too. I like the album but I'm not a big enough fan to buy another copy.

    Vinyl Me Please Country

It is kinda crazy that there is only 1 genuine "country" album in the Country track this quarter.....but the artists all wear cowboy hats at least lol

    Vinyl Me Please Country

like Ginger Baker says, can't put music in a box. Ramblin Jack sounds just as country as some country guys, but he wore a folk label all those years. If you listen to the record it fits under the country moniker.....a lot moreso than Van Tonk fits under the blues moniker. Either way, they are...

    Definitive Audiophile pressings

the direct to consumer thing is total BS and inconvenient (you can only buy from us and our crappy packaging that will almost certainly damage your record) and it's keeping my FOMO at bay. If I saw these on the shelf in my local it'd be a lot harder to pass up.

    Vinyl Me, Please Rock

System of a Down isn't white guys. And to be fair, rock was a genre whose genesis was just white guys playing black music. it's a very white, male heavy genre. But I'm sure we'll get diversity soon like we do in all the tracks.

    Vinyl Me, Please Rock

Well I already have the AAA Rhino of Tres Hombres which is gonna be hard to top, and I have the 2 LP of Raw Power with both mixes (but I'm still in for this one just to hear a different mastering take, and the fancy VMP packaging). STP No. 4 only had one European vinyl release before which is...

    Definitive Audiophile pressings

The Kevin Gray Rhino Paranoid was cut from the US tapes, with the infamous volume surges and drop-offs throughout side A. I assume the European version was cut from superior tapes (or even the original UK tapes possibly). That said the KG Rhino Paranoid does sound awesome, and I have no desire...

Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

Ha yeah I think that's who it was back when they put the Woodstock box set in swaps. I was lucky enough to grab one of those too, back when add-ons were $24 no less

    Definitive Audiophile pressings

Yeah I picked that one up last summer, great pressing. Pretty sure it's AAA, by Kevin Gray no less. Rhino would low key put out AAA reissues of all these great albums for $22 a pop back in the 2009-2017 era pretty standard .

    Vinyl Me Please Country

I think it was hinted at we were getting This Time later this year initially, and then eventually it was revealed we were getting a full blown Waylon anthology rather than a This Time standalone reissue.

    Vinyl Me Please Country

They're doing a Waylon Anthology in between the Miles Davis and Impulse! anthologies. Late 60s-early 80s era Waylon albums.

    Vinyl Me Please Essentials

Yeah I mean Otis, Aretha, Al Green I'm sure sold pretty well. But even more obscure jazz releases they put out sell pretty dang well apparently. And I think they had sold more John Coltrane than even Otis Redding and Aretha Franklin. Those jazz collectors out there ain't no joke.
