Difference between this and the Cars is Kevin gray didn’t cut the Cars already like he did Street Choir

Interesting, I see that one a lot for $10 VG+ . I think I might even have an extra copy. Great sounding record. Edit: nope, gave my spare to my dad.

The first cut of moondance was AAA, so was Street Choir and Astral Weeks. The recut of Moondance at Cohearant was digital. I believe there were some EU cuts not done by Kevin though

Did he do a digital cut of Astral Weeks? The only one I’m aware of is the KPG@ATM all analog one that’s been represses a zillion times

I mean they still sell aaa Kevin gray tip on jacket records for $25….but put an obi on it and call it high fidelity and sell it for $60. I’m sure it probably doesn’t sound much different than the last time he cut it

I like how they’re selling $20 records I bought in 2015 for $60 now with slightly nicer jackets

Alright I caved and got the Waltz for Debby new Kevin Gray OJC (plus the Mal/2 and the Cannonball Adderley in Chicago AS Series). I wasn't gonna get it because I have the 1980s Waltz for Debby OJC which is fantastic.....and I know that some 80s OJCs that are just as good or better than the Kevin...

Motown stuff in general hardly ever gets a good modern reissue. The big exceptions being that Kevin Gray Motown in Mono series and the Kevin Gray What's Going On 50th anniversary. Luckily though, all those Tamla/Motown original pressings from the mid-late 70s releases sound pretty dang good...

The original HBS is much better than the Craft, I sold the Craft after hearing a first pressing. The MoFi is supposed to be very good but I haven't heard it. I have a couple copies of this one and it's superb: https://www.discogs.com/release/14080549-Isaac-Hayes-Hot-Buttered-Soul Also only...

Yep I saw the Uncle Ron meltdown. Epic moments in VMP Discord history. I don't remember the Chas n Dave part. Probably didn't stick because I had no idea who they were.

Yeah I remember finding out Sublime isn't a household name in the UK when VMP dropped their record of the month earlier this year. I've never heard of Chas and Dave lol, that's wild.

Very interesting. Their debut album was a massive 6x platinum smash hit and they were fairly commonly found on MTV too (especially in the 80s with Drive), but their songs have been all over American classic rock radio for the past 40 years. Makes me curious what other massively popular American...

Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

Yeah I'm not complaining about the titles in those boxes, the only gripe I have with the Impulse box really is that it's not all AAA and there are other non-AAA reissues of some of those albums on the market right now. I think it would've been disappointing to put ALS and BS&SL in those boxes...

Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

Well it had Maiden Voyage, Head Hunters, Takin' Off which would go into any Herbie essential anthology really, plus Future Shock which is one of the best selling "jazz' albums of all time. They decided to go with a couple modern titles too to make it more of a lifetime spanning box set, the...

Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

I mean there are some in the Herbie box that weren't totally ideal, but the box is basically Herbie's career as told through albums just like the Willie box, not necessarily their 7 best albums, but it has 3 of his biggest albums at least. If they did the same thing with Impulse or BN...
