    YEAR END MEGALIST 2021!!!!!!

agree with @Woob_woob ...I have a very deep list of "ya, I like that" albums...like pretty much everything on my list has shuffled between top-tier to lower reaches to off my list entirely and back...nothing really "exceptional" (with perhaps the exception of my #3...which might really go down...

I drive a ton for work...like, 25,000 miles a year just for work, plus whatever little personal trips and excursions I venture out on. and it's frequently on when I sleep. but still...I get my $12/months worth, for sure

"more than 100% of other listeners" so...I won Spotify? *edit*...I just did the math...there are 525,600 minutes in a year...so I spent about 44% of the year listening via Spotify

definitely a bit skewed by sleepy-time music and running music...but I'd say this still pretty well checks out

ya...as I listen a bit deeper, I feel like they're cut from the Arab Strap mold...you're giving me compellingly dark music but vocally I'm just not locked in like I am for similarly styled bands like Shame and Protomartyr

    New Music Friday!

big Jungle fan...was ready to fly cross-country to see them live (and still would had life not butted in)...but yo...the track Truth sucked a lot of wind out of my sail. it sounds like off-brand, late-era Black Keys...like spot on, could've been on Brothers as is. still optimistic, but fearful...

I'm late to the Modest Mouse discussion...but I didn't see "Wooden Soldiers" mentioned in this discussion...and I think that's a damn banger...maybe because it feels like an elevated-production version of a cut that'd fit on Ugly Casanova Sharpen Your Teeth beyond that...it's a solid...

The best concerts you've ever seen:

    10. Amason - G! Fest (Faroe Islands), 2015 - set and setting, for sure, but I was mesmerized listening to them and thrilled to see them kinda make a splash stateside later that year 9. Brown Bird - Dirt Floor Recording (Chester, CT), 2013 - played to a room of 30 a few weeks before Dave's cancer...

    Top Rock Albums 2011-2021

quoting this because I take issue with QOTSA being lumped in, but I digress... 'rock" is such a broad category...maybe not so much bc "rock" itself has changed, but more bc we've parsed out genres upon genres to better separate style and mood. Protomartyr has been my favorite kinda "dark"...

Strangers is comfortably my least favorite album, but its largely because there are some TERRIBLE songs that drag down some very solid tracks..."Shit in Your Cut", "Ansel", "Tortoise and the Tourist" are great cuts with some late 90s MM vibe
