It is nighttime here, so a bit dark to take photos. With some fiddling I could get the stylus to touch the record, however the piston on the right is touching the base, the tonearm is resting/touching the horizontal cue arm. There is no light between the tonearm and the foam padding on that arm...

Hi gals and boys, I have seemed to encounter an issue with my deck. I did some tweaking with my playing weight, wanting to increase it slightly and hence lower my arm at the pivot (vta) to get the arm parallel again. The problem is the arm level piston is touching the deck and can't go down...

Hmmm... I don't like it. Sorry for being the party pooper. It looks eclectic in a non- Feng Shui way. I find those knobs look crap and that window for the speed control, gimmicky. It looks too much like a Spiral Groove Turntable and I have never liked their look. But that is just my taste. I...

Spending a day positioning my speakers also made a big difference. Another thought, from my for or against list, would be the upgradability of cartridges in the future. A higher value cartridge would make more sense on the UD which results in possible better sound.

There are some good arguments to get a UD. I have been tweaking my system a bit lately. New cables, a slate isolation plate for my SD. Some decoupling for my speakers (which made a massive difference). Unfortunately, I want a tiny bit more.

I would like to hear the thoughts of you folks, about something I have been thinking about. I own a StudioDeck, and I am happy with it. Now, I am a financial consevative person, which can be very good at times. However that led me to getting the StudioDeck instead of the UltraDeck. And I have...

Hah, just made me think I have three digital stylus scales and they all show a different result.

Anti-skating I find difficult, as I never really hear a difference. I have a Goldring 1042 on my StudioDeck and according to the instructions I should be in notch 2, but only just. Some turntables set their anti-skate according to the tracking weight. And it seems most people track at 1,8-2g...

Seeing how many people find the Mofis quiet and generally good, I would say the feet are good. For me, they tried to make a good product with mostly wise choices to an attractive price. One may need to bring some patience in setting the feet, not more.

All fine. Readjusted the cartridge and it seems fine. Although after awhile I rechecked the alighnment and I saw the cartridge was a bit off. I have had this issue before, it is a Goldring 1042 and I really do have to tighten the screws extremly tight. It seems the Goldring wants to "slip" on...

I nearly read the whole thread and there many things which made me think. Having had some issues with my table, Partly because of my own wrong doing, but that is another story. One thing which I would like to mention which may be of help to some, when changing the arm height/VTA, I put index...

Okay, I just got an Email from MoFi, and yes the pivot to spindle distance is 235.99. So I was presuming the wrong distance all this time. I wonder how that happened that I got the wrong size. Anyway I hope that clears things up.

I will do that. My argument for the 237.77mm is that it is not a round number. If that makes sense. I use the Conrad Hoffman Arc protractor printout tool for setting up my cartridge and with the Baerwald alignment. With the given overhang I get an effective length of 253.99mm which is basically...

Hmmm...I don't remeber who told me it is 237.77, It was too long ago and I don't have the Emails anymore. It may have been Steve Shade himself but I am not sure. I have written them (MoFi) again but I haven't gotten a reply.

Hi first post here. A StudioDeck owner. I do have a question/query about the pivot to spindle distance of these tables. I know this was mentioned earlier in the thread, but there are a lot of pages and I haven't read them all yet, and I just don't remember where it was. Two numbers were...
