The two are unrelated. Audiard is responding to criticism that he didn't research Mexico and that his movie is full of bad Spanish by saying it's a language for poor people anyway. Gascon is defelecting genuine criticism of the film she's in on another international film (meritlessly).
This is probably the best film of 2024, and the fact that it's so hard to find only accentuates its importance. Enraging and heartbreaking, but absolutely essential.
