    What's your 2021 "Gear" resolution?

Come on man, flex on this and spill the beans. I see Ekos and a DV Te Kaitora Rua. What's the PSU, bearing and sub chassis fitment? Is this replacing the Gyro or augmenting it?

    Fresh Grabs

This arrived this morning. Woodes; Crystal Ball; This might be seen as a bit of an indulgence. The record itself was a reasonable enough- about £22-23 if I remember correctly. The catch is that it's only sold in Australia. Throw in shipping and this is comfortably in my top twenty most...

The Dark Side; Digital audio equipment recommendations and setup.

I got a Nucleus because I'm a ham handed idiot.

    What's your 2021 "Gear" resolution?

Nothing serious planned. I like the idea of moving to fibre to home broadband and moving to a separate network switch for the system itself but that's a working change more than anything else. I'm completely happy with the performance of the equipment here and realistically the only changes will...

Phono Cartridges - Your favorites and least favorites?

I got sent a Songbird by accident (long story) earlier this year. It was genuinely good; Ultimately, the 'cheap' ones have been around for eons and this tends to reduce the excitement toward them because we do tend toward the new and shiny. Things from the Blackbird and up are technically...

Products we love (or at least, don't fit anywhere else).

Oh, the price- I guess at least someone will be wondering about that. I have no idea about the dollar price but, today in the UK for the speakers and amps/crossovers is £24,720, all connected up by *coughs* £2,740 of cables. That is exclusive of source equipment, stands, and mains.

Products we love (or at least, don't fit anywhere else).

As my Christmas present to me, the active system is back (for review). Presenting active system 2 (electric boogaloo). First up, more Titans. This time the 606 has turned up (yes, the 505 is still here because I am the luckiest bastard alive). Now, the 606 behaves much like the 505 so we...

Phono Cartridges - Your favorites and least favorites?

It'll work but it's realistically going to be overkill. Even if we take a high percentage cart/table ratio such as Rega, it still burns through that by a factor of about 300%. So the answer is to buy an RPM 10 and the Frog. Sorted.

In Yurp, we can send it back to Van den Hul for a full rebuild fairly easily- it comes back as new. Prices aren't outrageous either. Obviously, this applies to the rest of the world too, it just takes longer.

Phono Cartridges - Your favorites and least favorites?

The Hana is a fine cartridge; well made, great measurements (both in terms of what comes out of it and what it needs going in) and it won't ever be a disappointment. If you can accomodate the Van den Hul though, it- and I appreciate the utter uselessness of this line- just does music better...

Phono Cartridges - Your favorites and least favorites?

There are plenty of options here too but thus far, the DDT-II has seen off all the ones I've tried. If you can work with the odd tracking force (1.65g), odd output (0.65mv- which tends to clip a 60dB gain stage) and that it is quite sensitive to impedance settings, it's monumentally good. I...

Phono Cartridges - Your favorites and least favorites?

If there is a better cartridge under £1,000 I have yet to hear it; It presents some... interesting... measurements and the man who makes it is demonstrably insane but it is a truly outstanding device. And the worst. Well; This is a pretty good place to start. Yes, they sound a bit better...

This showed up today; Slow Readers Club; 91 Days in Isolation The band used the first UK Lockdown to work individually on ideas that they refined over the summer. I really like it; it brings some new ideas to the table.

That's got the same problem my IsoTek Corvus has; wall wart PSUs tend to block sockets on the opposite bank- the perils of three pin plugs.

Equipment Recommendations - The Home For New System and Upgrade Advice

That would likely cannibalise some sales from Quad. Part of the issue is that you can buy the circuit designs (Stereo 20, Stereo 40 etc) from other suppliers as the intellectual property lapsed so the USP of Leak doing it would be more limited.
