Is the remaster from 2018 any good?

Definitely. And nor should it ever sound anywhere close to audiophile.

    Vinyl Me, Please Rock

Is This It is pretty good! Glad to get When It Started on the vinyl record. I have a US reissue that uses the original stampers from Ray Janos at Sterling. I’ll have to do a little more comparison but the VMP cut is slightly quieter but maybe a little more defined? The Sterling cut has always...

This was already posted in the Jazz thread, but I know this is a grail for a lot of people. Absolutely fantastic album: WOODY SHAW'S GROUNDBREAKING FREE JAZZ ALBUM BLACKSTONE LEGACY REISSUED - Jazz Dispensary

To be totally fair, I’m almost certain The Dear Hunter would have known nothing about Deerhunter at the time they formed. Deerhunter supposedly formed in 2001 but didn’t release anything until 05 and not Cryptograms until 07. The Dear Hunter formed in 2005. Still a crappy name. I actually saw...

Kind of wish Rain Dogs through Black Rider were on 2xLP though. OGs of Rain Dogs and Franks Wild Years sound good though so maybe it’ll work out just fine. I just listened to the Bone Machine CD the other day and that actually sounds really good. Hoping the vinyl can beat it.

Oh wow did not see that! F em up with PayPal if they don’t take back replacements. Hoping they’re good though! I bought all five even though I probably shouldn’t have. It’ll be fun to compare Rain Dogs, Swordfish and Franks to my OG copies at some point. Happy to get Bone Machine finally too!

Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

Has the actual song Space Is The Place (side A) always sounded a little crappy? Just spinning my copy right now and the bass really isn’t there and the music sounds distant. Side B sounds fantastic. I do know that it was released in Quad but maybe the fold down to two channel stereo loses some...

Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

Seriously! I’ll laugh when they accidentally posted the studio album but everyone instead gets the soundtrack  But in all seriousness these titles are great. I haven’t bought a store exclusive in ages but went for this set. I only have the 2015 issue of Space is the Place which sounds just OK.

Same! It was the only Stones album my dad had in his CD collection and was the album that introduced me to their full career of music in like middle school or so. Don’t 100% remember when it first came out. It’s a solid comp imo.

    Definitive Audiophile pressings

I have original UK pressings of one and two. They’re fantastic and can be had for somewhat cheaply. I don’t want to plop down the cash for UK first pressings of three and four but there’s a Japanese issue of three that seems to have good reviews and is quite a bit cheaper that I’ve been eyeing...

Ha I was actually spinning those yesterday trying to determine if I needed the reissue. I think I need the reissue! I must say, Little Feat have some of the best sounding rock albums of the 70’s.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard this! I’ll definitely have to pick this up eventually. Her first three albums are fantastic. I also completely missed that she passed away last year. RIP but her music lives on!

    Vinyl Me, Please Rock

Sweet! That’s awesome! I’m assuming the Ryan Smith cut will be similar to the Kevin Gray RSD one then. I might have to dip in and get this one too. The RSD was cut at United. I haven’t played it in awhile but pretty sure my copy is a little noisy.

    Vinyl Me, Please Rock

How is Raw Power supposed to work? I thought Iggy essentially just remixed the Bowie mix for the 1997 release (which itself was a remix of Pop’s first attempt at mixing the record) in Pro Tools. Did he actually remix the master tape or copy of the tape? I have the RSD release with both and...

I’m interested too. I’ve kind of given up trying to source a UK first pressing stateside. They just never show up and I don’t want to buy a used UK one with the crazy shipping costs.
