It Could Get A Bit Messi In Here - The Football Thread.

Heavy scenes in the Cadiz - Barca match as an elderly fan apparently had a cardiac arrest in the stands. The game has been stopped while they try to revive him. Cadiz's keeper ran to the bench for the defibrillator.

$50/a piece? They're GA Tickets (it's a new venue, which may be 100% GA, but I'm not positive as I haven't been yet). They were around $70/per with the fees, but I'd rather just make back most of my money and get them to someone who's going to enjoy the show.

Long shot, but figured I'd start here: Anyone have interest in two tickets to the 9/22 show in Boston? Unfortunately life's getting in the way of seeing the national for the second consecutive time through town.

    Country / Alt-Country / Roots / Americana

Well, the Childers project is a triple LP: Hellelujah, Jubilee, and Joyful Noise. The track listing is the same on each record, and based upon the advanced single (Angel Band), which is out on Hallelujah and Jubilee, the Jubilee adds harmonica, horns, and backing choir... maybe the Joyful Noise...

So, Childers is teasing new music (I assume). Do any of you recognize any of the people in this video, or have any guess as to what it might all mean? Tyler is looming in the background looking very clean cut. I'm still not used to it!

    New Music Friday!

I've got my eyes on this one. From the early singles that I've heard, it runs the gamut from Americana to Folk to Jammy to some more fuzzed out garage rock.

It's been a few years, but I used to go to Cheapo Records in Central Sq. (Cambridge) when I lived around the block. It always had an eclectic mix, and the right amount of record store angst. Sorry about the heat!

Thanks for this! I've been a quasi-fan since that Sam Doores Riley Downing album (depression blues was on just about every mix I made for several years), but this was somehow not on my radar.

Of course you are right, and I immediately felt guilty/dirty about passing on baseless rumors.

YIKES. My brother just emailed me about this - whatever corner of the web he's frequenting thinks it's Partey (My brother is an Arsenal fan). 29, and apparently didn't travel with Arsenal this weekend.

    2022 Reading Challenge

It's been a while. Actually I had to go back and see what the last book I'd noted here, so sorry for the dump: #11. Sea of Tranquility by Emily St. John Mandel: A fun, interesting and easy read. I really like how ESJM drops easter eggs and layers characters between novels. I read it on a beach...

    2022 Reading Challenge

It's been a few years since I read Goon Squad, but I really loved it. So much so that I went and read the rest of Jennifer Egan's works and made my wife do the same. She actually just finished Egan's newest novel: The Candy House the other day, so that's next on my list. She (my wife) didn't say...

Needles & Grooves AotM /// Vol. 37 - July 2022 // Smoking Popes- Into the Agony

Whoops. I completely missed that comment above. They definitely weren't on a long hiatus. There's a lot of mixing of band members in that scene, it's got to be someone in that sphere, right?

Needles & Grooves AotM /// Vol. 37 - July 2022 // Smoking Popes- Into the Agony

So, what I think we think we might possibly know: Trio, Chicago, Lawrence Arms / Epitaph, Agony. I'm going to say Alkaline Trio - Agony & Irony. Aside from the things I wrote above I haven't spent time putting the clues together, but I'm stil going to toss it out there.
