I bought the Waxahatchee debut but quickly gave it the Axahatchee.

To each their own. I think both Crutchfield sisters are great.

I like Waxahatchee well enough, but haven't aligned with the Frances Quinlan / Hop Along hype train.

I struggle with Aretha Franklin's voice. Beat THAT.

Yeah I listened to the first track off the new Waxahatchee and actually recoiled when her voice kicked in. I was not expecting that. I quietly pressed stop and went about my day.

@Mather Same here... I was actually a bit shocked and made me rethink my previous 'appreciation' for her music lol

thats funny because Frances Quinlan's voice is pretty much the only thing i like about her music (both solo and with Hop Along)

Waxahatchee covering Lucinda's 'Greenville' is one of my favorite things on YouTube.

For me it’s Adrianne Lenker from Big Thief. It’s so affected, keeps me from really loving their albums as much as I want to.

@kvetcha There are some songs that require a few listens especially in her solo album and in Two Hands. Even as a huge fan I do agree she could sing it better. lol

I still like U.F.O.F., but I think I’d like it more if she didn’t always sound like she was trying to record the vocal track in a closet at a funeral.

@kvetcha hard agree with Lenker! Everytime I try out Big Theif I turn it off after a bit because of her voice
