Needles & Grooves

Also I'm guessing there was always a delay, but it has become much more noticeable. I would pick up the needle, and I would guess it was more than half a second before the audio stopped through my speakers. It's more jarring than anything else.

It was that way for me when I was doing it 3 year ago. Always had about a half second delay. I'm assuming you are using a Play 5?

I assume there's always going to be a little bit of a lag with these systems due to encode and transmission time.

I have Sonos, just not for vinyl (yet!) but I've read about how there's always a delay due to having to digitize the stream and sync it up.

Thanks all. The delay is new, or at least more of a delay than I've had in the prior 5 years of having this setup. Whatever delay there was before was absolutely not noticeable.

My only Sonos experience is with the two Ikea speakers I have. You CAN stream to them but they don't have an input so I guess I'd need seem something like a Play:5 and those seem expensive. Maybe I'll get one someday.

@Bohnjaggs overall I'm really happy with my setup, and yeah I have my TT plugged into a Play:5. The delay obv isn't the end of the world, it was more jarring than anything. If you don't need the extra speaker, they make boxes that you can just plug into to connect the TT to the rest of the system, but those are also not cheap.
