It, at times, doesn't make sense. I've never seen an Austin band like that explode into popularity. Heck I saw them at a free show in San Antonio opening for Jade Bird... So i'm a bit 'spicious about it all lol

Most of the members of Spoon don't live here anymore, but, in Indie circles, Spoon are legends at this point. I don't think Spoon has ever had a multi-night run at Stubb's like that. Maybe back to back nights? I think it is just that they maybe have such broad appeal that they are hitting all the demographics or something.

I could feel this coming to a certain extent, although not to this level. That's why I was so happy to catch them at The Mohawk last year during their 3 night run, which, at the time, seemed REALLY impressive in its own right.

@Aron It seems like they must have done an INSANE marketing blitz. Before I really heard about them, I was seeing their advertisements all over social media, etc.

@Aron Yes to all of it. I know some teenagers aka 'youths' and some older folks who love the Black Pumas and it's just that impressive. I think the most impressive one I saw was The National selling out ACL Moody three nights in a row... maybe it was two.

@Memo Which makes what Black Pumas are doing even more impressive to me. They're an upstart local band. I think the lead singer was still busking on the street like a year and a half ago.
