Thoughts? Intrigued from your reaction @Joe Mac

It was passable. I kinda enjoyed it on its own merits as a romp but it’s a thoroughly average film. I though The Last Jedi was really interesting and clever and I thought that this bypassing that for fan service was very disappointing. I also thought it was a horribly disjointed film and seeing as no one is ever properly dead in Star Wars there is no jeopardy and so everything is a bit meaningless.

Oh look the emperor didn’t die, gotcha! CP3O has sacrificed himself to save them. Oh no he hasn’t. Chewy is dead. Oh no he’s not. Ben is dead. Oh no he’s not. Ben is dead again? nah. Rey is dead. nah. Oh wait Ben is finally actually dead? Rian Johnson would have killed off Chewy and left C3PO’s mind wiped and so their sacrifices would have actually meant something.[\SPOILER]

I HATED Palpatine being resurrected and Rey being a Palpatine. I thought that the ideas of her actually being “Rey from nowhere” was much more powerful, that you don’t need to be from some family dynasty to be a Force “hero”.

All points taken on board actually. I really do see where your coming from.

I enjoyed it for what it is, not so much as from what I wanted from these sequels if that makes sense.

The last jedi left me feeling empty in a lot of ways i expected more and got less. One example being I loved Finn in the force awakens but hated his whole narrative in the last jedi so this was somewhat redeeming for me in that sense. What luke did with the saber after 2 years of waiting wound me up too

I want to say more but not sure how to do that spoiler things your doing so I'll leave it there lol 🤣

I preffered TROS to TLJ personally but I do think that they somewhat messed it all up overall, while enjoyable it feels like a missed opportunity is probably a better description for the sequels @Joe Mac

I really liked TLJ because it widened the universe, created more rounded and complex characters and had real jeopardy. It’s the only film in the trilogy that I think comes close to being able to stand on its own as a single good film. I liked that it didn’t consider its job to be to just satiate the rabid fan base. ROS was kinda enjoyable in a wham bam bang way but the further I get from it the more flaws I see.

Also who built all those star destroyers for zombie emperor? Where did all the crew come from? How did no one pick up on such a large scale movement of people and resource? How does Death Star tech keep getting smaller? Will trilogy 4 have it on a watch?
