I would personally take, Kurt Vile, Iceage, Mac DeMarco, War On Drugs, King Gizzard & The Wizard Lizard, Idles, The Men, Wooden Shjips, Parquet Courts, Protomartyr, Real Estate, Jeff Rosenstock, Thee Oh Sees, or Titus Andronicus.
@ChristoBee Absolutely agree on Ghost, though I consider them metal. Best metal artist of the decade though, I agree. As for QOTSA, I personally believe their best days are well behind them, and I don't personally believe they were a significant force in rock, as a whole, this decade. Again, all my own opinion.
@TenderLovingKiller® If I'm being honest, I only know a few of these names. A lot of the ones I do know, I would align much more with the indie scene than the rock scene (Kurt Vile, War On Drugs, etc). King Gizzard, I would agree with. Certainly in that category, and was very versatile within rock.
@TenderLovingKiller®@Sanders Like Clockwork is an amazing record (#2 behind Rated R for me) , and Villains has it's merits and is way better than Era Vulgaris IMO.
@ChristoBee I guess for me the bulk the bands Best work would have had to of come out this decade for them to be considered for the rock artist of the decade.
Regardless, it was a fun exercise to scroll through thousands of artists in iTunes to come up with bands I would consider The “Rock” artists of the 10s and the discussion about music has been lively and fun too! Cheers!
I mean rock is a broad old church that covers everything from indie/rock n roll through punk to metal. So on those terms erm nope, not for me, not even close. But then they’re not a band that interests me and are in an area of rock that equally does not interest me. The War on Drugs perhaps, maybe Tame Impala, the Arctic Monkeys sound has evolved hugely this decade too.
Except Paramore, but they had 2 albums this decade, so
