I realize this breaks your rules (one album per artist.) But all are essential and rules were made to be broken.
Disagree with III being the LZ choice, but a good start. Dropping LZIII, I'd add Neil Young - After the Gold Rush, John Lennon - Plastic Ono Band, and Derek and the Dominos - Layla to Moondance and Paranoid to make a nice 5 album spread of 1970.
@HiFi Guy It's a great album, but for this exercise, I'd pick LZ IV. To me, LZ III is the most not like the others, which isnt a bad thing but if you're going for an overview and only one per artist, I'd stick to the most representative.
@wmeugene I'm with @HiFi Guy III is the best and I always go for the best in all circumstances
Also @BjorgenFjorgen is 100% right, Blue is exceptional in every way, I’d also go with @HiFi Guy suggestion of Court & Spark too, it’s great, that said Blue is once in a generation good.
I can’t get into Blue! It hits me too much like Joan Baez’s Vol. 1, which I own but hardly ever listen to. What am I missing about it? Sometimes insight from this forum gives me a way to approach an album. I’m all ears!
