I had to eat plain oatmeal for two meals a day, for like a week, earlier this year. You aren’t wrong (and if I ever see oatmeal outside of a cookie again it’s too soon).
I eat it plain and it’s delicious. There is something about the oats and the warm water that make it great , but when my tastebuds are enjoying the cinnamon sugar and raisins oooo wee. Plain oatmeal ftw

Over here in America, nobody cooks their food... so everything is full of salt so everyone is scared of it, so people don’t cook with it. Which is rediculous.

lots of the aforementioned butter and salt, but then a hard turn with garlic, chopped chives, poached egg, pepper, cherry tomatoes. I think it's a blank canvas for sweet or savory, just like rice and grits. I sit in the savory camp mostly.
