No hate on lil nas X. 'Old Town Road' is a smash that deserves props as a single, and '7' is actually alot more enjoyable than I thought it was going to be. But Album of the year? I'm not really surprised but it's ridiculous. Even if you're not a fan of those other albums, they are at least critically and commercially acclaimed albums, while lil nas X is a singles artist who happened to release an album this year.

Lil Nas x is critically and commercially acclaimed as well tho. It absolutely shouldnt win, but containing arguably the biggest song in the history of music is enough for a nomination imo.

Song of the Year and Record of the Year, absolutely. There are categories to recognize the success of 'Old Town Road' and its accomplishment as biggest SONG in history.
Album of the year is to recognize a complete album, and '7' as an album is definitely not acclaimed (and is also only an EP but whatever).

And if OTR was the only song on 7 with any success this year I'd agree, but Panini made it to #5 on the billboard charts. So it has more top 5 singles than any other album nominated

I guess agree to disagree. I personally don't feel singles success alone should be recognized under album of the year. There are multiple other categories for that.

Again I cant stress enough how trash the Grammys are and I honestly dont care who is nominated or wins, but to think the album with the most top 5 singles of the year (one being the biggest single ever) shouldnt even get a nomination is baffling to me.

Again, agree to disagree. I am an avid album listener. I think the category should award strong albums, not mediocre (though enjoyable) albums with a couple very strong singles. Thats what the Record of the Year and Song of the Year categories are for.
The fact that he is nominated for 'album of the year' but neither OTR or 'Panini' is nominated for 'song of the year' is baffling to me.

If the grammys actually awarded strong albums tho, almost none of those albums should be nominated.

Again the grammys are hot garbage and you're wasting your time worrying about them.
