What is the purpose of an Instagram account for a forum?

@High Rant District I agree. Especially since we have nothing to sell other than maybe getting some additional members.

If you’re gonna say “If you're on Instagram, you should be following us”, be prepared to say why I should be following you. I’m on InstaGrampa, and see no content on this new account. I have no reason to follow. Yet.

Not sure what the forum needs with an Insta account. That said, I will probably start using the #needlesandgrooves tag on vinyl related posts that I make

It’s just forum promotion. We’ve had a Twitter for a while and since folks have been using an insta tag for as long as we’ve existed, we’re just covering our socials so no one impersonates us.

@mcherry I'd find the explanation "we’re just covering our socials so no one impersonates us" more believable if the statement “If you're on Instagram, you should be following us” hadn't been made. If you're just "covering socials", why the need to boost the follower count? My guess is 'monetization'.

@High Rant District What do you mean by ‘monetization’? We’re not going to sell anything other than fund raise for the forum and I’m not sure how else people make money on instagram? Is there a way?

I did not use the phrasing above but I see your point. I think the general purpose was just to let everyone know we have an account. Follow or don’t. Same with our twitter.
