I am pretty happy with the Sony I have. They change all their designations so much but I know it was one or two levels below their top of the line chip/processor LED. If you’re coming from something 8 years old you’ll be blown away even with something for the same price you spent on that one.

I’m seconding that you can’t go wrong with Sony’s. I’ve had one for nearly 8 years now and it works the same as the first day I’ve had it.

Sony Bravia is always a solid choice. Some of the best performing units for the money available. They do run a little more expensive, but worth it in the long run. Avoid those massive, super cheap panels for like $400 - poor performance/color/etc and they won't last as long

I haven’t purchased a new “main” television since my lg plasma in 2009, but I have contemplated and most of my research led me to believe Sony is the way to go, others make quality sets but you have to be more discerning over models because of either quality control or low value propositions.

Thank you all! We’re eying a Sony - 75" Class X80K LED 4K UHD Smart Google TV that’s on sale at our local Best Buy. Seems in our range and has good reviews and it’s available now which is important for a nightly Gabby’s Dollhouse marathon home like ours.

Buy whatever Wirecutter recommends and never think about it again.

Unless it sucks, in which case your misery will find company in the comments section of Wirecutter.

But also, that would be a good idea for a separate thread. Maybe like a “Home Theater and other Electronics Thread”

We went with the Full LED Sony X90L 75” TV. 🤠 OLED was outside our budget/use.
