Despite having seen them live I haven't followed kings of Leon's career in any way. But I do recall people calling them the southern U2.

I will absolutely go to the wall for Youth and Young Manhood. That's a goddamn great Southern rock album. Everything after that? Ehmmmmmmm....

The second album is decent too. There are some great songs on it even if it isn’t as strong as the first. Then they tried to be U2 and failed.

Dear @Joe Mac: I arrived in the US for the second time in 2004. That year I was introduced to Kings of Leon first. So when I then heard The Strokes I was like, that sounds familiar. For reference, I heard Dark Side of the Moon front to back for the first time that year. So yeah, I had a lot of catching up to do.
