Agreed. My mom apparently made all these chicken pot pies for some dinner a few weeks ago (I wasn’t there) and froze the leftover pies. She served one to me tonight. I commented about the mashed potatoes and she gave me a confused look and said “no, it’s a chicken pot pie, it doesn’t have mashed potatoes in it.” To which I showed her the potato skin on my fork. Her response: “where did you get that?”
She then goes to get the book that has the recipe to show me that there are no mashed potatoes in the chicken pot pie recipe that she made. The recipe calls for mashed potatoes “served separately”. We’re all still trying to figure out how no one at that initial dinner commented about the mashed potatoes inside the pot pies lol.
It’s just funny because apparently neither of my parents remember eating them that way and my mom is trying to figure out if maybe she only put the potatoes into a few of them and maybe the ones she served before didn’t have potatoes.
There were also mushrooms in them which is normal but oddly, the recipe doesn’t mention mushrooms either and my mom also doesn’t remember putting mushrooms in them. Lol. It’s only funny because this is turning into a mystery that my mom is determined to solve lol.
Could they be 1. Pot pies from a while back that didn’t get eaten and were still in the freezer. 2. Made from some completely different recipe. I mean I probably have fifty pot pie recipes
And now she’s quizzing my dad about it because he had one tonight which also clearly was filled with mashed potatoes (we’re talking like, the main ingredient here is mashed potatoes in these pies). And he has no memory of whether the pies at the original dinner also had mashed potatoes in them.
@Mather this is your Doctor Who episode right here. See they bought a chord amp and stuff and it is replacing the gravy in pot pies with mashed potatoes that make the people eating them forget they ate them.
This is all only really funny because my mom is an amazing cook and her passion and hobby is trying out new recipes. She’s now remembering who she had over for dinner that night and seems to think maybe it was a different recipe that she used that called for the potatoes to be in the pot pies.
