I know the Mitch Ryder version because it got a ton of airplay around here, wondering if that was just a Detroit area thing.

Cyndi Lauper’s was the first version I’d heard, but Prince‘s is the one I think of. I had no idea Mitch Ryder did one too.

Now I remember, it's in the movie Hot Dog...and early cable TV staple from my youth.
