Tell them to "stop being dumb-asses".

"Just a heads-up! The people you have shipping your vinyl records to customers are sending them in padded mailers rather than standard stiff cardboard mailers. My copy arrived with a badly bent corner but the record plays fine. Expect some customers to have problems, FYI. Loved the tunes, keep it up!"

Tempting, but it was a handwritten address by the artist for their self-released record, so I'm trying to consider if a) it's worth it to say anything, and b) if so, phrasing it in a supportive way... more supportive than a padded envelope with a single "Fragile" sticker and no cardboard on either side of the record

@High Rant District would have sent something like that immediately, and not posted here, if it had come from a label/similar

@serotonein Ah, I see. I've got a soft spot for musicians doing their own shipping on self-released records. DIY ain't perfect, but it's human. I'd let it go and say nothing, assuming the records plays fine.

i'd have no problem sending something like what hrd said to an artist. it's great they're going diy, but a lesson now is probably better for them than a lesson later.
